Only whole days outside UK to be counted. Dont count days of travel as she will have been in UK for some time on those days.

Re: New British citizens - pregnant wife - passport delays

Thank you for your responses. I think I will play it safe and apply in-country for UK passport. Hopefully it turns up in 5-6 weeks time as still able to fly then. If anyone is aware of any way this could get prioritised by HMPO please let me know. With the late stage preganancy its very touch-n-go ...

Re: New British citizens - pregnant wife - passport delays

Thanks for sharing your thoughts- had not considered that. Is pregnancy support a strong enough reason even if we get flagged? We do plan on being in UK longer term (got own house and both have UK employers we will work remotely for while in Manila)

New British citizens - pregnant wife - passport delays

Good evening forum members! My wife and I naturalised as British citizens today morning! She is 27 weeks pregnant. We plan to have childs delivery in Manila due to family help available there. Looking at current processing timelines for British passports seems like it could take up to 10 weeks. This ...

Re: Parliamentary statement & Tier 2 extension on May/June 2

Regardless of timing of application you will need min 35k at time of ilr application (i believe this also increases gradually over the next few years, dont have exact numbers to hand atm).

Re: Parliamentary statement & Tier 2 extension on May/June 2

You have provided very little information about yourself for anyone to answer your question.

What is your current soc code, salary, visa grant date etc? What parts of the statement specifically are you worried about?

Re: ILR eligibility

To be fair, it depends on your currency job (to some extent).

The new law for minimum of 35K will not apply to nurses, PhD-level jobs and those on the official ‘Shortage Occupation List’.

Hello I am currently on a Tier-2 General visa valid for 5 years. I have been with my current employer for over 8 years. Internal job opportunities come up frequently in my company, and I am considering applying for one of them. My SOC code currently is - SOC code 2136. This SOC code refers to ...

Re: is the new immigration skill charge for dependents aswel

No one can answer this for you until the government publishes its own rules.

The MAC has only made recommendations. It is up to to the government what the final law will be.

Just keep watching out for new rules - thats the only thing you can do just now.

Re: Tier 2 refused for my fiancée, advice needed.

She could return to the US and apply for a fiance visa. This is valid for 6 months and you would need to get married within this time. She would not be allowed to work during this period. Once married, she can apply for a spouse visa within the UK. Once granted (either apply by post or in person ...

Confirmation regarding absences abroad

Hello I got my Tier 1 General in Sep 2009 for 3 years, and (assuming I get an extension) I will be eligible for ILR in Sep 2014. From Sep 2009 onwards, I have been outside the UK for around 100 days so far. This includes personal reasons (marriage, vacations etc 60 days) and work-related trips (40 ...

The most relevant changes (actually practically applicable to the majority) seems to be that the income level at ILR time has to be atleast as much as when the points were secured. IMHO I think this is the best outcome, as for majority, they will have been earning more now than when they came in 5 ...
