Re: grandfather grandmother details in passport application

I am applying for my first British passport . I have noticed in the application it is asking for grandparents(maternal and paternal) details I was wondering if there is more than one type of form, as I recently filled three applications for a first British passport, 2 from the citizenship ceremony,...

So, based on her automatic acquirement of permanent residence on 27 Feb 2012, yesterday on 27 Feb 2013, I went to Birmingham NCS to apply for her Naturalisation. The Council lady didn't even know what EEA meant and what treaty rights were! Sorry mate, but    seriously, WTF! She rang ...

Now, as I understand it from what's being said here, I didn't need to apply for PR confirmation first and could have applied to naturalise on reaching my 5th anniversary providing evidence of my husband's PR status (derived under EU law), British citizenship and proof my residence in the UK for 5 y...

Re: Confusion Between FP and EEA2

There are some people who are confused about FP ad EEA2 Adding on top of Vinny's, the FP is just the end result of an entry clearance process, that's it, you may think of that as a sort of simplified visa for non EEA family members of EEA citizens exercising treaty rights in the UK. The main scope ...

Good for you, now look through that thread and report back after your hols! The bit about not needing the exit visa is hilarious for me, if you meant it was not required for the Schengen visas as well, I didn't knew that, my wife was hold God knows how many times from border guards trying to match ...

from April 2013 meaning that people on ILR will no longer be able to apply for citizenship and have British passports, but will only be able to become permanent residents. Is this true I reckon it may be the dream of certain sort of people, but I very much doubt they will see that happen as soon as...

Re: European Parliament elections and 2 EU nationalities

This is clear as far as people with only one nationality are concerned; not so clear when it comes to people with dual nationality. In other words, it's clear that an Italian (who doesn't also hold British citizenship) residing in the UK may choose to vote for either the UK or the Italian (but not ...

No, you need to achieve PR, obtaining the document certifying PR is optional, then successfully apply for naturalisation, then apply for the passport. or is it possible to directly apply for British passpo...

The other downside of having a dated confirmation of PR is that you still have to show that you had attained PR for at least one year, possibly before the date on the confirmation of PR. Yup, that's what happened to me, I got PR, then I applied for naturalisation without waiting 1 year from the PR ...

In my case what would you suggest what should i do? It depends from your own circumstances, I suppose. In the case of my wife, we perceived that the risk of loosing the application fee for naturalisation, £851, was very low, because of my own understanding of the law and of the naturalisation proce...

However, if a EU citizen also acquires British nationality, can he/she vote for the two constituencies (native country + UK), or does he/she have to choose one? One head one vote. You may disagree, and I don't actually dislike the Hungarian experiment, but in modern western democratic tradition, tu...
