We posted the application back on Tuesday together with the information requested. Today we received confirmation that the application had been placed in the queue and been given a 68/*** number. This seems to be confirmation that time spent in Ireland as a student is indeeed counted as qualifying o...

Our covering letter stated that she was applying on the basis of her "Irish Connections" and urged them to read all the documents attached. My Certificate of Naturalisation was included. I can't understand why they want copies of my passport as they would only prove that I was in Ireland. ...

Thanks again for all the helpful replies. We sent the application in on Tuesday and today received a reply, very quick three day turnaround. They asked for a letter from my daughter's college to confirm her attendance and copies of my passport from the time of her arrival in Ireland to my naturalisa...

Thank you all for your very helpful input. We used a lot of your suggestions in the application that was submitted yesterday. She has visa validity until September 2009. After that she will be able to get a six month extension while seeking work. Following that she should be working in a position th...

Try doing what I usually do: Go into the airline site and select the flight you want on the day you want with the full costs shown. Then print that page and take it to the embassy. Don't actually buy the ticket. Do the same for hotel bookings with the correct dates. Worked for Spain, Netherlands and...

Thanks for your assistance. I arrived on foot of a work authorisation. She arrived as a dependent. At Dublin airport they had no stamp for minor dependent so stamped her in as a student. At that time it made no difference as time spent as a student counted then. I only queried it when the law change...

She was on a student visa although for the first year she wasn't registered at university. They have no specific stamp for minor dependants. I know this normally doesn't count but I was told, by Burgh Street, that it would count once I (her father) was naturalised.

She is South African.

After applying in June 2006 I finally received my Certificate of Naturalisation yesterday. It is an A4 laminated certificate fairly presentable but two points stick out: 1) The INIS are too budget conscious to use decent envelopes so the postman folded it in half. 2) The certificate is completely i...

Naturalisation Application for Student

My daughter arrived as a minor dependent with me in 2001. She subsequently studied at university in Ireland and is just completing her Masters Degree. Time spent as a student normally does not count but I was once informed, by an officer in Burgh Street, Dublin that it would count once I was natural...

I just got confirmation that my file is still in the 'dreaded' Dublin office. I feel like walking on the walls now (I applied Jan 2005). Please honorable members of the forum, give me suggestions on how to tackle this problem ...solicitor? TD? I have written letters and made calls a 'million' times...

In contrast many applicants, myself included, are simply waiting for approval in order to apply for an Irish passport to enable them to leave.

I'm sure that the INIS are well aware of this fact.

Hello I regret to say that the judge did state that only Cork residents could make the declaration in his court in Cork. The clerk also requires that you fill in your name and address before making the declaration. Presumably she also checks. Why not try just turning up in Dublin at 10am. If you pho...

Hello All Just back from making my declaration in District Court in Cork. All you have to do is arrive at 10.00 on any Monday and ask the enquiries desk to put your name on the list. Wait half an hour and make the declaration in court. All done by 11.00. By the way I applied in June 2006 on the basi...

Hi

I'm really getting worried now. People who applied in August 2006 are getting letters asking for additional information. I applied in June 2006 and never heard a word.

Phoned and told that my application is "with the minister".

Deeply distressing!

Application with Minister

Hello

I applied for naturalisation in June 2006.

I have heard nothing since. I phoned on Thursday and eventually got through.

I was told that all they could tell me was that my application was with the minister.

Any idea what this might mean. No requests for any information were made.
