Thank you so much, Ben. A couple more questions if you dont mind.. Can I ask - we plan to register with the Garda, and then go to apply for the PPS number: could the PPS department refuse to give him the number as no sign of Stamp 4 in his passport, is that a usual situation? or can we just say we a...

Form EU1 Section 3 'Current Activity of EU Citizen In State'

Hi all, Does anyone know, what I should write on Form in the above section, if I am a Jobseeker? There isnt a 'Jobseeker' category.. and I definitely wont have a job immediately upon arrival in Ireland. Is it best to wait until I (hopefully) get a job before putting in this application? But then if ...

Good morning all, Can anybody define the following in terms of EU Directive and exercising treaty rights: have sufficient resources for themselves and their family members not to become a burden on the social assistance system of the host Member State during their period of residence and have compre...

UK's Definition of EEA Family Member?

Good morning, A friend of mine has an issue I hope can be answered here. Ive had good advice re. my own situation, so thought this a good place to start. He has been in the UK since 2004. Came here on a work permit as an Artiste, under the 'old system' not the Tier system, so had to renew every year...

Hi Monique, Thanks for reply. Thats a good idea re. arranging viewings before our arrival. I know we have to register with Garda on arrival - does the registering not give my spouse permission to work, or must he do the EU1 and wait for return of documents before he can work? Only asking as, I'd tho...

EU1 Application

Hi all, am (finally!) moving to Ireland 1st week in December. Have a couple of queries if theyve already been answered elsewhere on site, apologies - have been trawling thru but couldnt find. I am getting phased re. 1st things to sort on arrival in Dublin. Will arrive with my non-EU spouse (he isnt ...

Training allowance is only granted if the person is already in receipt of Social Welfare (JobSeekers Allowance/Benefit). If the person is not already in receipt of such, then they will get no allowance but may qualify for travel allowance. Fulltime courses are free. Part-time/evening courses cost v...

Tier 5 & Marriage

Good afternoon all. A colleague of mine is in the UK under Tier 5 Creative and Sporting, and now wishes to marry. However his Certificate of Sponsorship expires in December. Just been discussing it and he wondered whether, if he marries and then makes marriage application to UKBA, is he here legally...

Thanks IT Guru/all. So am trying to understand - if he is Stamp 4 (I guess he will be,as my non-EU spouse?) then he can do any course full-time, will have to pay for it, but will not receive training allowance? Or do I have that wrong? Just want to double check as we aren't really into claiming bene...

I am interested to know - how is it that not having PRTB can enable you to lose your EU treaty rights ie, EU1 application being refused? Is that not something that can be challenged? Just asking as I cant see the relevance of PRTB at all. Its obviously a delay tactic, but do the authorities have a l...

FAS Training Courses

Hi all, Planning to register with FAS on arrival in Ireland with my husband (he is non-EU). Someone sent me an info link about them, and I was reading about training courses. Yeah you have hit the nail on the head with that perception of Ireland. The case will be won if it goes all the way to the end and will hopefully set a precedence, although I can see them settling out of court. The firm that is bringing them to court recently won a case against them for going over ...

I would perceive that as working more than 15 hours a week and paying taxes. Other than that I can't see how work would not be genuine. Also note, that your spouse cannot work in Ireland while you are here because of ridiculous, unlawful policy change made by the Irish Department of Justice. Hopefu...

I was trying to see whether there is a topic re. non-EU spouses no longer having the right to work in Ireland, from 1st June 2010..I am sure there must be a topic on this somewhere on the board, can anyone let me know? Or if there isnt a topic would be good to know people's thoughts as I am sure thi...
