Re: OCI collection and British Passport Submission

Anymore update on this? For minors when we submit, they never ask you whether the original applicant is in the country or not. They just accept the application without any problems. So I assume while submitting the british passport too they would only check the online status printout and accept the...

Re: Travelling during grace period

To be very clear, travelling during the grace period is not a bad idea. What IS a bad idea is entering India using an Indian passport and leaving it using a foreign passport. For the following reasons: 1) Indian law says you should return the Indian passport as soon as possible on acquiring foreign ...

Re: Wife & Child - India travel plans

surrendering wife passport and applying for tourist visa to both daughter and wife is an option but i am worried, the process may be time consuming? Surrendering your passport is the only legal option. It is not time consuming. It's a relatively simple form and takes a week max to get the certifica...

Hi All Just wanted to share my experience hoping it might help someone. I applied for my son's naturalisation in April 2016. It finally came in August. During this timeframe he travelled to India on July 21st after I asked a lot of forum members about the 3 month grace period. My son returned today...

Re: Travel restriction on Indian passport with less than 6mo

This is a tough one to answer definitively, however, according to this website, UK requires a valid passport for the duration of your stay (i.e. 6 months rule doesn't apply). The UK authorities are also aware that Indian nationals do renew their passports in the UK through their high commission. I h...

Re: Can I apply for OCI when in possession of India e-Visa

I think you can start the OCI application process and do the first trip to VFS. They'll check your documents, your surrendered Indian passport, British Passport and give the passports back . Then they'll send your documents to the High Commission who will send it to Delhi. After 6 weeks (in the best...

Re: Child Indian Passport Surrender and travel to India Plan

I would not apply for OCI now. It takes 7-8 weeks easily even for a smooth application. They specifically warn against making travel plans on the basis of OCI as it can take several months in the worst case. As discussed in other threads, Surrender Certificate is essential for OCI and also tourist v...

Re: India Tourist e-Visa - Last Indian Visa?

Is it worth answering - "No" as you have not visited India before as a visa holder (earlier you were a citizen). You're not hiding this fact from them as your country of birth will still say India. If the TVOA has any free text field you can even attach a short note explaining this. Note t...

You need to scan your signature and resize it to the recommended dimensions. For my signature I used 900 pixels wide x 300 pixels tall. You also need to take a photo image file and resize it to the recommended dimensions. For my photo I used 900 pixels wide x 900 pixels tall. For creating the photos...

Re: OCI for minor. Marriage Certificate original not availab

I was told -- Marriage certificate of parents is mandatory for children born in the UK (even if they held and surrendered an Indian passport, showing proof of Indian origin). This does seem to be a bit silly but at the end of the day we have to follow the High Commission's instructions. It'd be bett...
