When UKBA writes to you that a case office will be appointed soon, just use this letter as reference to ask for the name of the appointed office, if you don't hear anything within 2 weeks. Once an officer was appointed, my case was resolved within 4 weeks. The issue is that UKBA is keeping files for...

Passport for travel

I recalled my wife's passport for Christmas. They sent it back without the residence permit telling us that to return to the UK we would have to apply at the British Consulate in the country that we visited to get authorization to re-enter the country. Without the Residency Permit we could not get a...

Complaints letter

If you are not fluent in English, writing a strong complaint letter can be difficult and using a lawyer very expensive. I therefore posted examples of generic letters that I used. Here is a link: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=38582&start=20 I hope this helps. Eric ____________...

Write

Don't waste your time calling HO. Verbal promises have absolutely no value. I got my case processed without a single phone call. My advice, write and record every letter (so you have proof that it has been received), specify a time to respond in your letter, and send reminders until you get a respon...

Flightlesskiwi used a really good word "prisoner". Yes the Home Office is virtually making thousands of people prisoner in this country due to their sheer incompetence. This is clearly unacceptable, and unfortunately I have seen many people simply accepting the fact that it may take over a...

EEA1-3 - why?

I have been living in the UK for over 10 years now. Nobody ever asked me for any confirmation of status, and I cannot see any benefit associated to it. Therefore I really do not see the point of going through such a pointless and lengthy procedure. If anybody can tell me what EEA1-3 brought to them ...

Re: Post subject: EEA Permanent Residency vs Naturalisation

Eric, can I ask when the clock starts running for a non-EEA spouse of an EU national in the UK to get PermRes? I haven't applied yet for EEA2 (have a student visa), but would be interested in PermRes and even in naturalising as a British Citizen in the future. How would I do it? You need to apply t...

Time to process residency application

The UK government is casually disregarding article 10 of EU Directive/2004/38/EC which states that residency cards for family members of European Union citizen shall be issued no later than 6 months from the date the application is submitted. There are some documented cases on this forum where the a...

EEA1/EEA3 - why?

For nationals of the European Union, what is the point to apply for residency through EEA1/EEA3? -- As a European National you are by law allowed to freely travel and work anywhere in the European Union. Therefore what is the point to apply for residency? What is the benefit of getting UK residency?...

If 9-13 months are needed to process the application, the Home Office should allow to deposit your application 9-13 months prior to expiry of the current residency permit - in any way, you won't be able to get a Schengen visa unless you have at least 6 months residency left on your residency permit ...
