Re: 2014 Citizenship Approvals

My wife got her invitation to the ceremony on January 23rd this morning. We have two small children (one 10 months old) , can we bring them to the event, the letter only talks about one adult? Thanks.

Re: Are new citizenship approvals report to embassies in Eir

My wife is Chinese and has no intentions of giving up her Chinese citizenship after she gets her Irish one. None of her friends that have already got it done so either. I don't see how Chinese embassy people could be attending the ceremonies unless they are getting citizenship themselves - they are ...

Re: Citizenship Timeline Tracker 2014

Wife got her letter of approval today. She applied on July 15th so about 4 months from application to letter of acceptance which is pretty good. She applied on the basis of marriage to an Irish citizen.

Hi Peter, I note that you mention that you are checking the INIS list for approvals? I'm also Irish but my wife is Chinese. We applied to the Irish consulate in Beijing for her visa (which she got). The approval was never listed to my knowledge on the INIS website at all, there is an approvals list ...

I married my wife in China too - but on the mainland. While I can understand that this might not seem appealing to you why not just divorce her over there and remarry? I can't claim to know how its done in Hong kong but on the mainland divorce can be done in minutes without the need for lawyers at a...

Visa for US Green Card (Permanent Resident ) holder

My Chinese wife is pregnant and would very much like a Chinese person to take care of her during her first month or two after she has our baby as is Chinese tradition (usually the mother takes care of her). Her own mother (in China) gets sick on the bus so a flight to Ireland is out of the question....

Thank you, churada! I feel better after reading your post! Did you marry in China or Ireland? I'm trying to figure out where it would be best!! Ireland has the 3-month waiting period. Blah! I know that a lot of people probably inquire this part as well, but - does ANYONE know what their looking for...

CP182, don't sweat it. My wife is living with me here now with a full Stamp 4 visa. We had a LDR relationship for a couple of years and she never even was able to come here because of the difficulties in getting even a tourist visa to visit from China (where shes from). The only time we stayed to to...

Can non EEA Stamp 4 register with FAS ?

My wife , who is Chinese, is finding it very hard to find work despite having a degree in English and a Stamp 4 visa. It's not really clear on the FAS website if she can even register with them. There are some courses that she would be interested in doing which I think would be great for her self co...

Chinese wife wants to take my family name living here

My wife is Chinese and she got her visa to enter Ireland recently and she will be coming back here with me after the Chinese new year. Here's the thing, she knows my sister took her husbands family name so she wants to do the same (in China the traditions is the wife keeps her family name but the ki...

Thanks fatty patty, I was wondering if the application is forwarded from the application country to Dublin.
As it turns out they will accept an email with scans of the documents I didn't include so thats a disaster avoided, now its just wait and pray time!

Are visa decisions made in the country of origin ?

We just sent of my wife's visa application to the Irish consulate in China. Will the visa (join Irish spouse) application documentation be forwarded on to Dublin or is the decision made in the country you apply to? The reason I ask is I have some concerns about some documents and if they ask for mor...

Chinese person applying for naturalization in Ireland

If the spouse of an Irish citizen here legally wants to apply for Irish citizenship after three years, will the Irish government force them to give up their Chinese passport when they apply as the Chinese government doesn't recognise dual citizenship?

Bringing my Chinese wife back to Ireland - worried

I met a Chinese girl online about six months ago and we chat daily, send letters etc. I'm flying out to visit her in February and will be staying in China for about a month with her. The plan being, that if things work out as we hope they will, that we will marry over there. I've tried reading up on...
