I live in country. Immigration officer was generous enough. She changed the stamp just based on Nat cert. That is confirmation that your are citizen isnt it?

GNIB card is just to show your immigration status. I know when i had one also, i was confused why it can't be used as identity card. But its been like this day one, Green book / GNIB card started.

If you have temporary stamp and document showing that you have applied for work permit. You are ok to work. Work permit section has been slow for renewals from day one. not your fault.
