For me also it is about travel, I'm fed up getting a schengen visa to travel with my partner every time we go away, also want to make sure I apply before and if any rules change in the future. I think most people just want a decision so they can get out of the immigration sytem once and for all! Re...

Thanks. Voting is important to me as well.
Forgot to add that I was voting (as citizen of Commonwealth) even when I was on WP.

Maybe my question is already discussed here, in that case please accept my apologies. I am wondering why people are so anxious about citizenship applications. This is not a life changing event after all. ILR is, but BC? It is a straightforward application, the rules are easy to understand, the only ...

I'd wait and apply in Nov 2012 to save money and have a straigthforward case. There is no consultation to change the rules for BC so far, and I am not aware of any rumor regarding that. Furthermore, the HO is consistently referring to BC and settled persons in the same capacity in recent consulation...

There is no need to formally close the 10 year route. It will be almost impossible to apply under that route because in-country switching of visa category will be very difficult. The only scenario to achieve 10 years of legal residence will be 5 years as student, then 3 years of tier 2 and an additi...

Yes that goes without saying. What I want to know is time frame. Will they set a future date or how will it work. Will it come into force in september? Or is that too soon. Seriously, are you expecting someone to tell you what the government will do? They can change the visa requirements anytime, t...

How good the case worker listen to your justifications as they said your case cannot be taken as the company names are different?? Well, with a positive outcome, I can only say that he listened to me point, he went to make further checks and he concluded that there was no change of employment. It i...

If you HR fill in the technical change of employment form, you will get an updated WP document from Home Office and you are ok. If not (as it was in my case), it will be a matter of luck. They can rightly refuse your ILR. Hello Pierrot95, First of all congratulations to you for ILR. I have same situ...

Thanks all.

re. salary, I earn twice the amount required in the code that we put in the letter, and as said by others, the absolute salary doesn't matter as far as it is above the minimum wage.

I put the mortgage statement to prove cohabitation. I suspect they kept it as it covers a whole year.
Re. booking, I booked online exactly 6 weeks before the appointment date, at around 12.30-1pm.

It wasn't the best experience of PEO, but this has nothing to do with the salary requirement. Appointment at Glasgow PEO at 10am. Got there at 9.05. 5 mins for security check, got a ticket at around 9.30, number called at around 10.15. I prepared two sets of documents, one that I considered essentia...

Hi, Yesterday was very gloomy for some of my friends who applied for ILR (premium service) in shefield. They got all refuse due to the fact that their salary didnt reach the £7.02/hr for senior carer. They are all on 5 yr WP holder, same company for 5 years, no gaps on their visa, but just that..t...

3 months requirement is there from many years, but the reason its specifically mentioned is just to stop sudden pay rises to match the salary in code of practice list. If you have a Dependant (spouse),Think about her to switch into student visa. So what happens if i did get a sudden pay rise 1 mont...

This is true as far as you changed your location with your job. Quite a funny requirement actually but the HO has to be notified of a change of location with the technical change of employment form. The reason is (was) to prevent employers from using this to bring migrants in the UK where there is n...

I can't see any circumstance where an application will be refused based on this new salary rule. I suspect that the rule was added just because they wanted to say that things are changing, but it was initially targeted at tier 1 and they added WP holders just for consistency. There is no code writte...

Let's put it this way: if you apply for ILR and you get refused because you don't meet the new requirement on salary (134(iv)), as per current practice, the home office will have to tell you in writing that "the Secretary of State is not satisfied that your employer certifies that you are paid...

We are not talking about opinions, we are talking about understanding the rules. The requirement is: 134(iv) his employer certifies that he is paid at or above the appropriate rate for the job as stated in the codes of practice for Tier 2 Sponsors published by the UK Border Agency Let's put it this ...

I stress again that the key point on this is " certify by his employer ". Work permit holders were not allocated a specific COP for their job. It is now up to the employer to find a code. Even if your job title matches exactly one defined in the codes with a higher salary, the employer can...
