Travelling to Schengen area with just 10 days left on visa

Firstly, apologies for posting this thread here... I couldn't find any other forum to post this... I've an ILR in the UK and have a Schengen visa expiring on 2nd August and I have to travel on Business next week. My return flight is on 31st July, well before the expiry of the visa. Swine flu apart, ...

That certainly is a twist in the... tail! So, essentially, I'm back to square 1.

supercreature, the UKBA website still says "date of posting" for postal applications... they can't be following two policies in parallel?

Cheers.

Thanks paulp, I'll pocket my proof of posting and the 10 quid I saved and take my chances at the PEO.

Thanks all for your inputs - very useful indeed.

Cheers.

Well, I applied for and received a new passport on Friday along with my previous passport, now cancelled. The process took 2 working days at the Indian Embassy in London. Reasonably efficient, hassle-free service and its worth the effort in my case, since I have to travel so often - although there a...

This whole issue of 2 days' overstay is getting to nag me more than it used to... Does anyone think this can be an issue? Is it worthwhile to send them a copy of my proof of posting along with some flowers and have them "amend" the application date so it reflects the date of posting instea...

Hi, thanks for taking time out to reply. Thats news indeed. I wasn't aware they returned the old passport. Infact, my earlier passport was completely revoked and I received a new one in its place. Ofcourse, there were no stamps in it, maybe thats why. Do I need to request for a return or is it stand...

Just two blank pages left in my passport...

Hi All, Not sure if this is relevant to this forum, but still... I have just two empty pages in my passport and am applying for ILR soon... I spoke to my embassy, who said they can only issue a NEW passport, after cancelling this passport. My current passport bears all my in-out stamps for all my tr...

Yes... passed the test... any idea how I can know my score (purely statistical interest)?

I think its the SET(O) for me. Am aware there'll be a new format of it starting 06 April.

Thanks.

I empathise with you... One comes to the country with a promise of a better life and is willing to put in a specific amount of time to grab the carrot at the end of the stick. Now, the opportunity cost of this investment is massive... these are some of the best years of my life and maybe if I invest...

And if I apply after April 01, 2009 (or 6th or whenever the new rules are due in April), will it be for ILR, or am I looking at a Probationary Citizenship? There are a few threads that speak of Temp Residence (FLR) --> Probationary Citizenship (in place of ILR) --> Citizenship after 1 to 3 years (ba...

Appointment Date

Hi, I arrived in the UK early in the morning of the 23 May 2004. I'm now applying for ILR and from what date can I take the appointment for?

As per my calculation, I can apply anytime on or after the 25 April 2009. Is that correct?

Sorry to be so pedantic. Best Regards.

Just my two cents... I received confirmation from a few friends that the IRIS recognition does NOT affect processing of ILR. The 'stamps' are available with HO and one can mention this in the application. IRIS rocks, for the moment. I registered and used it and its quick, easy and worth the effort. ...

Anyone has any negative experiences? Or heard of anyone having a negative experience because they used the IRIS service?

Just that I frequently travel to Europe on business and this will help me immensely on re-entry.

Thanks in advance.

IRIS Scheme

Does registering for IRIS affect ILR in any way? Since there are no arrival stamps in the passport, can I still just state the dates of my arrivals when applying for ILR or do I ignore this for the moment and wait until I receive my ILR? At the moment I'm on HSMP that expires in October, and I'm due...

Hiya,

Considering the worst case scenario, even if you were outside the country for 40 days, you could still apply in March 2009. So my gut feel is, you can apply in March 09.

Cheers.

Appreciate if you to use your own thread to post, rather than piggy-back one mine...

Like you, I too want my query answered/replied to and posting to my thread can possibly take the focus off my issue.

Thanks Vinny, I have no doubt in my mind that HO is supposed to consider the date of posting. However, in my case, the date of posting seems to have been ignored. Do you reckon I present my case to HO and explain as best as I can. I'll be applying for ILR later this year and don't want this to be a ...

Overstay, but not an Overstay

Hi All, I have a little issue with my visa validity. During one LTR juncture, my application was delayed due to some reasons, but I managed to apply on the LAST DAY of the visa validity. That being a Saturday, the application reached HO the following Tuesday. I have proof of delivery, etc., to prove...
