Your concern is shared by many. The new reforms may also effect not just economic migrants but spouses, family memebers etc. Rememer though that if we had been left with a Labour government the rules would have changed by July 2011 and basically the ILR status would not have been attainable after 5 ...

York123 - I believe you're confusing between the rules you noted which are going to be implemented in April 2011 (which we know about) and a potentially more significant revision which is probably going to happen later. The new government had pledged to bring the level of (non EU) immigration (i.e. ...

No Tina123 - HSPM is one immigration cateory and Work permit is another one. The JR covered HSMPs only so if they change the ILR rules by Nov 2011 HSMPs are probably safe from change due to the JR However, this discussion is a bit pointless as no one knows yet what is the nature of the upcoming new ...

legally seperated = absolute decree.
If legally seperated you have to fulfill the standard requirments for naturalization (12 months ILR, 5 years residence etc.).
Have a look at the relevant section on UKBA website

I agree with tina123 - Pre Nov 2006 HSMPs are covered by the JR and will have 5 years for ILR. Others including Tier 1 are not covered.

eureka_ilr - Any government can change the immigration rules at any time and apply them retrospectively and specifically the new government will announce new rules - whether restrospective or not we have to wait and see: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsarticles/2010/nov/15-settleme...

Technically ILR is not valid anymore but you will be able to travel with your existing passport. As far as I know, there is no formal rule which states you need to enter/leave the UK with a British passport. Have your citizenship certificate just in case you need it. Make sure however that your orig...

If the police officer didn't tell you that you're going to face court then you're probably fine and that's that. You can always call the police to verify your status

No. If parent gets ILR than child needs to be born in the UK to be eligable for British citizenhip.

If so, parent can apply for his child only when he applies for his own citizenship and I beleive the child must be residing in the UK for this (but not sure).

For a software consultant you seem to be getting involved in too many fights  To your question - if you were not told by police that you are going to be charged I don't think you have too much to worry about. You have also nothing to declare in the AN form since you are not going to be charged...

1. Your accountant can easily check with HRMC or point you to a contact there to find out if you have any outstanding debt with them. If you have you would have probably already known about it. 2. You already answered this one by indicating that the police decided not to prosecute you. You are not g...

Once a fine had been imposed by court then you have a conviction which currently carries a spent period of 5 years (Nov 2013 in your case). The points on your license are less relevant. The HO may apply discretion in your case (if it is your only offence) but it also may not so your application is r...

First - you don't apply for a passport. You first apply for naturalization (British Citizenship) and if successful you attend ceremony and get your naturalization certificate - only then you can apply for a British passport. As long as you didn't go to court or sentenced by court your parking fine w...

"fixed penalty notices do not constitute offences" - so you should be OK since you didn't go to court. In any case, I assume "excessive speeding" means extreme speeding which I assume again was not the case in your example otherwise you might have been made to do to court or serv...

1) We intend to register the child as a Singaporean national at the Singaporean High Commissioner in London, and subsequently aquire a Singaporean passport for him. How does this affect his status as a British citizen? It does not. The UK permits dual citizenship. 2) If the child then travels using ...

The points on the license are not important. What is important is wether it was given in court and the type of offence. The fact that none of these went or will go to court is good. Do not contest them or let them go to court. However, 2 fixed penalty fines within 12 months prior to your application...
