You don't need a medical card or medical insurance for Maternity, it's 100% free unless you want to pay, and the level of care is the same public or private. Looks like they dropped the arcane requirement to get letters from all past employers, which can be a pain in the arse with those who no longer exist, and Revenue not always sending through required documentation when asked.

Any other changes in it?

I find the Dutch embassy the easiest to deal with, though they now have to send everything off to London and don't process locally any more.

There are no exit checks at Irish airports, no passport is required (except by airlines) to leave.

Just sent both my wife's and my own applications in 30 mins ago via registered post. Was eligible in 2006 but never got around to it. I'll keep updating as things happen here but I don't expect anything soon. Short history: 12 years in Ireland, 2000 to 2005 on work permits, 2005 to present on IBC 05...

bro i know one guy he applied in july 2011 and he got an approval.alan shatter and his team is just bull shitting , wel they did i mean fast the process in the beginning when he took the office. but thats it. how would they process our cases in 6 months or finish back logs when their week end start...

Met a civilian INIS rep coming back into Dublin last week, she was lovely and we had a great chat, but then, as I travel out once a week anyway, I've had the same from 90% of the Garda INIS officers, never had a problem really. I agree with Walrus, at least this way the Gardai can be put to much bet...
