Re: Date of Birth certificate and Passport

mbxmbx wrote:Hi,
I got the Irish citizenship by Naturalisation.
Hi mbxmbx,
Congratulations.
For the information of those still waiting, do you mind telling us:
When did you apply?
When did they ask for more documents?
When did you get approval?
When did you get the certificate?

Ah, you spotted that too!
I thought I was going crazy for a minute.
They did in fact say that - not correct, it seems.

Hi NearlyIrish, If you've got a day or two and not much else to do, you could read all of this thread. It's probably the best source of information available on the subject and it will give you a better idea of what the "system" is really like. A lot of people are in a similar situation (m...

You might try reading this... http://www.inis.gov.ie/Website/inis-en.nsf/0/0CF9A1EEFBBCA2468025731A002EB446/$File/consolidationINCA.pdf?OpenElement especially Sections 6, 6A & 6B. It is a consolidation of all the laws, whereas what you read was just the act to amend the law. I don't know much ab...

Re: Confirmation letter

Hi guys Can someone tell me if the letter confirming successful application (the one before you arrange the court proceedings) is sent by registered mail? I'm travelling on business trips and hope that an post won't send it back if I don't pick it up within x days. If it's registered, do you know h...

Thanks to all for your replies. I guess it would all have been obvious if INIS had written "Stamp 5" and "Stamp 6" as appropriate on this page: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Without_Condition_As_To_Time_Endorsements and this one: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Withou...

oh, I give up! Southern Sky, I have seen the list you posted before, and perhaps it's right, but... tiggs has "without condition as to time" yet his card clearly says stamp "5". He is certainly not naturalised as he is still waiting for an answer. Maybe there are just some things...

email the minister?

Has anyone considered emailing the minister (minister@justice.ie) and asking about the pile of applications sitting in his office awaiting approval?

I'm too scared myself, due to the whole "absolute discretion" thing!!

Hi tiggs, Thanks for that. Does your card say stamp 5 or 6? Is there a "5" or a "6" anywhere on the stamp? (Just trying to get to the bottom of this, contradictory websites, etc.) I still have a while to run on my old stamp so no point in upgrading until I see what the minister s...

Scans of stamp 5 and 6?

If any of you have stamp 5 or 6 in your passport could you scan or photograph the stamp and post it so we can see what it looks like? (blank out any personal details)

It might help with the confusion that seems to exist.

I'm not at all surprised by this. That's why I got LTR as soon as possible. It's kind of understandable though, I guess a lot of countries would do the same. It's VERY unfair on those who came here in good faith and may now have to leave because they no longer qualify. A similar thing happened in th...

Sorry to be contradictory, but that is not necessarily so, mine was mid '06 and the letter asking for further documents was on Tipperary letterhead in an envelope postmarked Tipperary.
