I don't think option 1 is possible, You can't extend HSMP before 45 days are left in visa expiry date. If that would have been possible you could always avoid the new rules by applying just before the rules are about to be announced. Yes I called 011 420 740 74 and (Andrew) told me that extension from HSMP to Tier1 will not be affected by the Master's Degree rule, although he said that I better contact 0870 606 7766 as my HSMP was 75 points and not 65 points. I will not take his words although he said that master degree rule will only be applicable to new applications.
