Irish Tom, just wondering what your particular interest is in immigration matters to Ireland anyway- not being cheeky just genuinely wondering!! Have you been Irish your whole life, born and raised here? Or are you married to a non- Irish citizen? Really curious to know where the anger directed at b...

I want to thank SBT_Owner sincerely for that reply- I really need to hear some voices of reason at the moment. I'm fully aware this is not an agony aunt forum, as this is certainly not strictly a legal conundrum I am in. All my family want me to completely step away from the marriage and get an agre...

Thanks for all the advice. He is from Mauritius. Was here on a 6month student visa in 2005. He then overstayed it by 3 years or so., so was illegal. He was working on and off some places. We met each other, fell in love, was my idea to get married to regularise his status (it wasn't like he was conn...

Yeah I'm just trying to weigh up which side is more important...going ahead with visa and living with fear of repercussions or else not doing visa and living with guilt :( Something which may make the situation more clear- he has not worked since getting his stamp 4...it's only with the threat of di...

Stamp

Hi, Yes, it would just involve going into GNIB and getting another stamp for him in a few weeks. However, that would obviously be going against any separation agreement, as that would be cutting a few months off and starting the separation sometime after the second stamp. I guess I just can't have i...

Separation/ Stamp 4 Advice

Hi, My non EU husband and I, an Irish citizen, married September 2008. He applied and received Stamp 4 in April 2009. Residency was only granted for 1 year's duration, so next month we will be asked to return to GNIB for interview. We have been separated the last three months. I am unsure as to what...

Date residency begins?

Hi, With regard to application for naturalisation (I realise there is a few years before this can be applied for, but just checking we have the correct information first) My non- EU spouse and I married in September 2008 to myself, an Irish citizen. (in Ireland) We made an application to the Depatme...

Thanks

Hi Scrudu, thanks for the quick reply about this topic. Also for going to the trouble of looking into it further by calling up the Department. I guess it really isn't something that's tried and tested yet. We have decided not to apply right now and see if we can get by another while. Although it see...

Stamp 4/ Unemployed

Hi to all, Does anyone have some advice for me please...my husband has received stamp 4 since April this year (married to me, an Irish citizen) now he is out of work, and though we never expected this situation, are now looking into him applying for unemployment assistance, out of necessity. My unde...

Re-Entry Visa

Hi,
At the GNIB my husband just received a Stamp 4 on his passport.
We then queued for a Re-Entry visa ticket, but were told that people from Mauritius do not need one- is this correct?
I am an Irish citizen.

Thanks

Thanks

Thank you for such quick replies- you brought up an interesting issue as well: by a re-entry visa do you mean that if he travels outside Ireland that he needs to get this visa each time? This is our first experience of the system so would be grateful for all basic advice you could give. Thanks again
