Best to ask them :)

I emailed our local office, who responded with their timetable (once a month, with dates) very quickly.

Processing times & redundancy

Dear all, How long has everyone here found that it takes for naturalisation to be processed? I do know that the official line is "6 months or so", but what is your experience? Edit: I have just found a bunch of posts saying 3-4 weeks is what happens when you're lucky/straightforward. We sh...

hello :) I married my Kiwi hubby in 2004 - four years as a couple prior to that (1 in UK, 3 in Australia), no kids (at that time). Two weeks after we got hitched we applied for his spouse visa for the UK and got it back very quickly, little query other than the fact that we were both going to work f...

VWP entry & minor criminal record

I know that this isn't strictly an immigration question, but hope that someone will be able to help. My husband is being sent to the US by his employers, only for 5 days, but he has 2 criminal convctions dating from Dec 2004 (malicious damage to private property and common assault). Basically someon...

He first arrived on 7 May 2004 and yes, he'll be going for naturalisation next year. He's not looking forward to the test though - we might get hold of the book a few months early to start his revision :)

Just a quick note to say that hubby's visa came through today!

ILR too, not even an FLR extension - and all within 4 weeks of the application!!

No questions were asked, no further evidence requested.. fantastic :D

I'm not an expert, but I would go with the truth. If everyone applied for a unmarried/spouse visa as soon as they moved in together, IND would have a lot more paperwork :) My husband and I started living together immediately after a joint trip to his home country (New Zealand) in 2001, while he was ...

Our evidence folder is filling out nicely and should be ready for submission after the long weekend *bounce* I'm even scanning everything we send, partly for our own records and also to send with the application as a CD. We have a section dedicated to Rob's 6 month absence, covering why we felt it n...

hi ramasal, I'm putting together a similar argument for IND at the moment - my husband was out of the UK for 6 months of his 2yr visa in order to complete a vocational diploma. As far as I've been able to tell they don't mind absences/separations of up to 90 days, but anything more is treated as not...

Aleksas, there is another factor - non-visa related - why going through something as time-consuming as a fiancée visa may not be the best choice just yet. Basically, moving to a new country is a bit of a shock even when the culture is similar. Weather, distance from family (even when transport is re...

hi John, thanks for your reply :) I managed to get through to the helpline in the end and they said exactly the same thing regards which form to use, documenting the absence and the fee. You star! So yes, we will be inundating them with as much information as we can find and hoping for the best. The...

hi seek, and welcome to the wonderful world of immigration shenanigans :) I'm in the same boat as you, just a little further along the line, but as everyone else has said there is a lot more to it than simply going from a WHV to citizenship. My other half came to the UK on a WHV in 1999 and we got t...

FLR or ILR?

My Kiwi husband's two year visa runs out on 6 May 2006 and while we shouldn't have any trouble proving that our marriage is fine (plenty of docs to go with that), we're not so sure about whether he can apply for ILR just yet. This is because he went back to Australia (where we lived prior to Blighty...
