benifa- YOU ARE AMAZING! I've been searching for clarity on the issue for a long time and haven't found something this concrete. The information on the sites (NI Police Service, HM Prison Service and UK Police) give conflicting information about whether one needs ILR or just be free from immigration...

Plum- Thanks a lot for the correction. I've been reading about the UK's immigration situation for months now and I'm still a bit off on everything. Whirly- It sounds like you went through it in the minimum amount of time necessary! I must say congratulations...I'm beginning to understand the headach...

Whirly- Thanks a lot for the helpful info! We're staying here (Austria) through next summer. I'm going to have my familienaufenthaltstitel (family/spouse residence permit) from Austria and we will enter the UK. After we enter, I'll apply for my EEA permit. I'm thinking this is the necessary and corr...

Thanks...I suppose it will be up to how long the lines are that determines how I gamble with it. I was sort of hoping to "move up" to the EU passport line, haha, but that's not the end of the world. Any idea on how they stamp your passport?

Which line?

I've posted a couple of questions here and everyone has been very helpful. I've followed some advice and I feel I've finally made some progress through the beaurocratic hell that is immigration. Anyway, my stats again are as follows: I'm an American citizen that will soon be marrying an Austrian. We...

Sorry to jump in on this, but out of curiosity, does that mean that you would be bound by national law if you were to move back to Belgium and not by EU law (i.e. right of free movement)?

I must say that you're a wealth of knowledge and I sincerely appreciate the help you've offered. I suppose I should also applaud the efforts of the Austrian government for making sure that everyone follows the rules. Well, back to the drawing board I suppose.

Out of curiosity, would any change of status have to be completed before the 90 days are up? If we were to have our official wedding before the 90 days are up, would everything have to be approved with the remaining time left for my tourist visa? It seems like a stretch to assume that they would exp...

Well done saving on the cost and time of having to take a course all over again. I believe Germany had reciprocal agreements with some countries for awhile, but that may have changed. Austria allows some countries the same exchange. In Austria, they send your old license back to the country/state th...

Thanks again for your quick response, 86. Unfortunately, this is what I was afraid of. I've looked over the residency permits that Austria allows, and it seems that each of them have a very specific set of criteria that must be strictly followed. Even the American embassy says that it's rather diffi...

Austrian Wedding Details

Hi all! I'm an American citizen engaged to an Austrian citizen and currently we're in Austria. I entered through the Visa Waiver Program as a tourist. Under the program, I can switch my visa status once we're married. I've gotten a lot of information here and the Austrian government gave us some inf...

Thanks for the quick response and helpful information. I apologize for the redundant questions, I know I've read similar ones on here, but I just wanted to be sure that I was going in the right direction.

Another immigration situation

Hello all! I've been reading these forums for quite some time now, so I figured it was time to participate. I've read quite a bit about the entire process, so i was wondering if someone could confirm my theory on a situation. I'm an American citizen currently in the US. My (soon to be) fiance is an ...
