If you are in the UK in any other immigration category and you apply to switch into Tier 1 (General), or if you are applying from outside the UK, you will need to score 100 points. bit confused... what is this 100 points thing??? 80 (earning + age + education) + 10 (english) + 10 (maintenance) = 100

We will give priority to certificates of sponsorship required for extension applications and shortage occupations
Does this mean that T2 general comes under the interim limit?

Pasting the relevant section for renewals... in case the link disappears...! You will be excluded from the limit if you are already in the UK under Tier 1 (General) and you apply for an extension, or if you are already in the UK under another immigration category and you switch into Tier 1 (General)...

So in effect it is going to be less than 5100 new T1 EC visas a year!

Someone who inflates his earnings and thus gets rejected is ruining the chance of someone with genuine earnings who just missed the 5100 mark by 1.

Wondering how they are going to deal with successes through appeals.
If out of 100, 5 are rejected will they be counted towards the total limit? Or is it that they will consider on these 5000 odd applications in a year.

Entrepreneurs, investors and post-study applicants will not be affected by the increased points threshold. In addition, those who e...

how exactly they are going to do it without affecting ICT (which is now one of the main ways to bring non-EU workforce into the UK and which is used by really big companies) and without affecting family related immigration (human rights issues)? New ICT T2 visas issued after April 2010 are not elig...

300,000 a year?
I thought T1 visas were only about 50,000 a year.
BBC reports a 5% reduction from the previous years.
T2 visas may be more taking into account ICTs as well.

What did you enter as the date of your 1st application in the PBS calculator? The date of your HSMP application or the date of your Tier 1 extension?

When are you due for your 2nd extension?

According to the updated Points Calculator, you will be assesed based on your 1st application..
I am worried about this as well..
There seems to be some major changes every year since I came to the UK on HSMP..
Take a look at the UKBA website..

There is a way to address the shortage problem, if the gap is small, by appling for the 1st extn very close to the expiry date. Typically home office takes around 2-3 weeks to process the application and the extnsion is valid from the day they approve it. In effect you can manage a gap of of 28+ (1...

I think you can use the same bank statements for the earnings proof & maintenance fund. (think one of my friends had done so for her extension.)

You would need to explain it in your cover letter though.

You don't need a duplicate copy of the same statements.

New Rules - Existing Tier 2 (ICT)

Can existing Tier 2 (ICT) holdders apply for settlement when they complete 5 years in the UK?

Or have I got it wrong?

Thanks arsenal49 for your reply. So, when I apply for extension, it will be considered using old rules i.e) without Master degree requirement. Correct... [/i] I really hope so. I am in a similiar boat. So far when the UKBA changed the rules, they had always put in some sort of transitional arrangem...

They might change the dates so you have 5 years,in total, as a work permit holder. You really shouldnt need to extend it more than 2 ti...

I think they put this clause in to make sure that people who got their Tier 1's (not the extensions) after March '09 did not use the bachelors degree to gain extra points in case they were short of earnings points.

2nd extension for existing Tier 1 holder with a Bachelors.

This may sound silly.. but I would like to be sure... I came to the UK on HSMP in Jan 2008 & extended to Tier 1(General) in November 2009. I only have a Bachelors degree. Even with my extension I am still 1 month short of the qualifying period for settlement & hence would have to go for anot...
