I am not an expert but I think: If you are travelling with your spouse (or going to meet him/her at the destination) then you don't need a visa to travel anywhere within Schengen area. If you are travelling alone, you should get a visa. In this case getting the visa should be free and simpler than u...

Just wondering, is there any advantage of the national route over the EEA route in Greece? Thanks for the replies guys. 86ti I am not sure I understand your question. In case you are asking why we went for the "national" resident card instead of the one described by the directive, it's be...

visa required while national recident permit is due?

Hello, I am Greek married to an non-EEA national. We use to live in Ireland where I am still employed. My wife has applied for a 4EUFam card, but the application is pending, with her stamp-4 expiring on the 5th of September. In any way we don't need the 4EUFam any more since we are not going to retu...

Re: Eu 4 & EU FAM

from http://www.citizensinformation.ie/References/checklists/glossary-of-immigration-terms-a-checklist If you hold a STAMP-4 you need both Schengen visa and Irish re-entry visa For your information: My wife has a STAMP-4 (Expiring early September) and an Irish Visa which expires in few weeks. Last ...

The first link is simply the guide for the second link. You'll have to read through the whole directive to get the picture. The link you found are the Schengen rules for the visa issuing posts. The Schengen Borders Code is the guideline for immigration. Thanks for the reply and sorry to still bothe...

You may already know that you wouldn't need a visa in the presence of the residence card. Here a few links that will get you started. http://ec.europa.eu/commission_barroso/frattini/archive/guide_2004_38_ec_en.pdf http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32004L0038:EN:NOT Hello t...

Hi there,
Indeed it's clearer now.
Since chances are that you won't get your passport back within the 10 days of your stay, better you postpone your EU1 application until July.

With what visa you plan to visit Ireland??? Sorry but I am not good with acronyms. What EUTR refers to? I hope you know that Ireland is not part of Schengen and hence you will need an Irish visa to come here. Also make sure it's multiple entry, since you plan to go back and forth. In general, EU1 an...

Hello there, From my experience you cannot register with garda unless you have first applied for EU1. And to apply for EU1 you need to send by post your original passports and wedding certificate (among other things). They usually return them back to you within a couple of weeks but since you are go...

It is from Czech republic but it expires next week. When we applied we asked for the maximum duration possible (90 days). That would solve the problem. But the Czech embassy asked us how long we plan to stay in Czech republic. We were honest to them, that we plan to stay there for a week or so. Then...

Thanks a lot! That's what I was looking for. For the resident card, I know that (at least in theory) we wouldn't need a visa, but in any way, we haven't got the resident card as yet (as I said application is pending) . By the way, in case they insist, what would be the best way to handle this? Would...

Tourist visa for non-EEA spouse of EEA citizen

Hello there, I'm from Greece, currently living and working in Ireland. My wife (non-EU) has joined me few months and has already applied for a Resident Card (application being processed). We plan to visit Greece in summer for holidays. Since the decision for my wife's residency hasn't been made as y...

Hi there, Just to tell you what I have learn from my experience (http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=37644) Processing of the application indeed takes long . They say 6 months (!) and probably they mean it. However, they are supposed to return you the originals (passports etc) soon afte...

Further update: Naas Garda told us that we should NOT go there as instructed (!). Instead, the letter (sent by the DoJ to them) will be forwarded to our local Garda station. Upon receiving it (it might take up to 2 weeks according to them!), the local immigration officer will contact us, asking to g...

We just received the acknowledgment certificate (I hope it is correct this time). They are asking both of us to go to Naas Garda Station. It takes few hours to go there (a full day off from work for me) and about 30 euros per person return by public transport. All these while the local Garda station...

Hello, Just an update for those interested. We went to the local immigration officer. He insisted that with only that acknowledgment slip he can't do anything. Apparently, upon receiving the application the DoJ has to send 2 letters. One to us (acknowledgment certificate) and one directly to the imm...

Thanks a million guys. Really helpful information. For the wedding certificate we thought that they might want to double check it (it was issued outside EU - Singapore to be exact). We will ask it back though. For sure we will need it sooner that the 6 months it takes to process the resident card. T...

certificate of EU1 application

Hello there. First of all congratulations for the great site. Great help for lot's of people. Now my question. I saw in few posts that after one applies for a resident card (Non-EU join EU spouse - EU1), he/she gets a certificate of application with which he/she can obtain GNIB card, work etc until ...
