Re: British passport counter signatory and naturalisation re

One of the two referees for your Naturalisation application should be a British citizen anyway. Why can you just get them to countersign the passport application at the same time if you are not sure?

Have you read CR001's post? You will still be required to have your biometric details taken. How are you going to do that if you've left the UK? At least have the biometrics out of the way before you travel.

Re: Not received my BRP card

Thanks ScopeD. I understand this. So are you saying that they will not issue new BRP cards against the biometric enrolment we did on 5th March as a part of our naturalisation application process. The current BRP I am holding as part of my current visa needs to be returned within 5 days of the cerem...

Re: Not received my BRP card

You don't get biometric cards for citizenship applications. Citizenship is not a visa. Thanks for a lightening reply. But at the same time they say that you have to return your biometric cards within 5 days of the citizenship ceremony. What does that exactly mean? Thanks in advance If your applicat...

Re: Can I keep my biometric ILR card when I get UK citizensh

Your ILR becomes null & void after naturalisation as a citizen is not subject to immigration controls - so the BRP will be null & void too. Even if someone hangs onto their BRP does not mean they can wave it at an airline worker & board a plane. Airlines increasingly have systems in pla...

Re: British Passport Application with no foreign passport

Personally, I think they could enliven the citizenship ceremony by carrying out the destruction of the BRP as a part of the ceremony. To get the certificate, you must surrender your BRP at the ceremony, which is then ceremoniously shredded as a part of the ceremony. Like baptism, you start your lif...

Golden rule of taxation; tax is due where the work is done. Not necessarily true. In some durisdictions, income earned during a period of temporary absence (and temporary absence can be defined in some places as anything under 180 days) will be taxable. Of course there may be some double taxation a...

I had my ceremony in Leeds this morning. Before closing the ceremony, they emphatically mentioned the new requirement to return BRPs within 5 days or risk the 1k penalty.
