Ooh thats a nice one! Fingers crossed then that the 'accelerated' visa application process is pretty speedy, so that we can get on a plane sooner rather than later! Thanks once again Obie for all your help, you're a star! It is quite a relief you know that we can go to the UK using this route, finge...

One other thing I will mention is that if we are not in the UK by the time she is six months pregnant she will return to the Philippines alone. I will continue to work in Bulgaria. She will already have her residency card so after the birth I believe it would make it much easier. Downside: We will b...

You are absolutely right about using the EU route, everything I read about it makes it look much, much easier. There are no fees for a start, ever! In a document I was reading today I noticed how easy it would be for her parents to come over too. Her parents are 55ish. She has no other dependants. T...

Winter can be very cruel there, I was unlucky that I copped the worst winter for 30 years! Hope I don't get the worst one for 50 this time around! My Bulgarian is only conversational, but when Bulgarians translate documents it is never quite right so I correct them. I did mention before that a job o...

I never thought of that Ciaramc, with regard to only being turned down for the VV! Thats a great one! Sorry I guess I am talking to myself with regard to the residency card, I had read that that can take up to six months but it does make it easier if it is instant. I do understand what yourself and ...

I haven't given up, but unfortunately I just came across this article :( What about EU citizens who claim to be covered by the EU rules on free movement? Abuse could also occur when EU citizens, unable to be joined by their third country family members in their Member State of origin because of the ...

My fairytale world... From what I was reading, page after page, I really did think it would be a flawless way for us to enter the UK. I asked on here for some confirmation really, as it was always going to be a big gamble. One of the reasons that I want a speedy entrance is so that we can get a fami...

I have to be honest, I was aware that he/she will be British by decent but didn't understand any of the implications of it. It makes me even more determined that he/she should be born in the UK!

Thanks for the added info.

Well that is a good question, but that entails myself moving back to the UK and trying to find a job, that visa takes 3 months for them to decide, plus the time trying to find a job in this economic climate. Also after having her visa refused once already (family visit visa only) I don't want to pay...

Thanks again for the advice, we are just 7 hours in front of UK time here, so its now evening time. The only problem I have is that I didn't work in Bulgaria previously, I was just living off of my savings. I didn't register there or anything :( didn't need to at the time. This week we will head off...

Thankyou so very much for the advice. Sorry for my late reply, but this is purely due to the time difference! I have no doubt that you are all correct with regard to having to excercise my treaty rights for six months, but I simply cannot find any evidence of this online. Going back to this document...

Thanks for the advice. I will take my chances here as I was well looked after last time, and the European section says not to post UK related things and I don't want to be kicked out of this valuable resource!

Thanks again for your time.

Thanks for that Wanderer. I haven't seen anything to do with the timescales at all and have done a lot of surfing. As you can imagine, I have to get every detail worked out perfectly. So I could apply after 3 months, and how long does that take?

A quick question or two!

Hi there people. I wrote recently about my dilemma and recieved some wonderful advice. I want to confirm a few things before I take what could be a big gamble! I am a UK citizen and married my filipina wife here in the Philippines. We are thinking of taking the 'excercising economic treaty right' ro...

Thankyou so much once again Obie! This is certainly proving that I have been misled about things countless times. Thanks once again Obie, I do remember looking in this direction before, I haven't found the relevant information yet but from memory it is something like... a citizen of any other country aside from the UK, so if I was German/French etc I could do this to move to the UK with my wife. Its a real pain...

Visa for wife - Philippines

Hi all, I am in the middle of the process for my Filipina wife. I think I may well have gone in the wrong direction up until now on misinformation. I will give the full story below. I lived in Bulgaria for 18 months, and began chatting with a Filipina in February 2008 on skype. I then moved to the P...
