WP Dependent Visa

I just got a WP Dependent Visa. It does not specifically say whether I can work or I cannot work. Does anyone who got their visa recently, share their experience whether the visa has to be explicitly mentioned with "eligible to work"? Also, do I need to get NI number before I can start work?

As per my understanding, I see 2 options:-- 1) Either I apply as dependent when my wife is WP holder, get a dependent visa and when she applies for ILR, she adds my name in the application. 2) Or I do not apply for dependent visa right now, and when she applies for ILR , at that time she can add my ...

Gap in UK stay, ILR?

Hi,

If a WP holder has been working in UK for last 4.5 years and due to some reasons he leaves the job and goes back to India for an year or two and comes back on Tier 2 visa, does 5 year requirement for ILR starts from scratch or he can still get ILR after few years?

Please advice.

Thanks

She is on work permit.

I used to think that work permit is called as Tier 2 General now and all rules of WP apply to Tier 2. Is there any difference in rules?

Now my question is in Oct 2010 when she will apply for ILR and I will be still on Tier 2 Dependent with less than 2 years ...
