I know that calling this number is annoying and nerve-breaking, but it is the only way... The longest it took me to reach them was 2 hours. every 5 min I was calling and finally i got through. Few times it only took 5 min. So keep calling...

I have contacted my MP, have sent an e-mail and written complain to the HO and now I am checking Solvit, thanks ;)

But - if he requests his passport now, fails to get a FP from India - it is most probable that he will not be able to come back to the UK, right?

yes, that is what I meant. It got damaged by accident when our friend's kid spilled something on it and then we tried to wipe it off and some things got blurry.
