Re: Good character requirements British citizenship para: 9.5 Illegal Entry

I can't find the thread where somebody pointed out that the ten year clock starts when illegal presence ended versus when legal presence began . I know that happened but I'm notoriously terrible with message board search engines. Perhaps some mod can dig that up. marcnath , Just asking for an opinio...

Re: Good character requirements British citizenship para: 9.5 Illegal Entry

I've just had an overnight think about this. It may be that your ten years started from the date you were last present in the UK illegally. In which case, you may be able apply after November 26th, 2018. I ran into a thread similar to this before where somebody corrected me on a point just like that...

Re: Good character requirements British citizenship para: 9.5 Illegal Entry

I don’t understand one thing if I came to the atttention of the home office when the UKBA caught me then why not counting the days start from that day? Or when the first time I applied for the spouse visa? I believe the intention with 9.5 had to do with someone who entered the country illegally and...

ILR granted: August 2015
Those dates just now jumped out at me. That's a pretty quick turnaround for ILR. Are you sure you've got your dates right?

Are you sure you are 'stateless'? You have the flag of Eritrea in your mini-profile. Maybe that's just representing your ethnicity? In what country were you born? What was the citizenship of your parents? Have you ever held the pasport of any country at any age in your life, even as a child? I susp...

Re: Court hearing Deception-Help needed from Moderators/senior members

Hi my younger brother had a hearing today at Taylor house. Just a background. He applied Tier 1 ent. in 2013 which was refused on deception (due to an alleged bad quality bank statement) with right of appeal. All of his appeal rights were exhausted in Dec 2014. Just for a note: In these 2 yrs he wa...

Most governments of the world probably don't consider deffered or delayed tax payments as 'minor'. Those taxes pay that government's existance.

What is the best thing to do now. If the self employement ID was not genuiine, the best thing to do is leave the country and forget about the UK. If it was genuine, challenge the decision by all means available to you. Don't worry about any further visas or anything else, just clear your name. Once...

You should consider asking a moderator to move this to the Tier 1 E section. Especially since posters over there might not ever visit the General section.

Re: Naturalisation: Good Character Reqirements

From my understanding, your in time application and appeal were covered under section 3c. The 28 day rule was abolished in 2016 after your subsequent application was made in 2015, which was successfully approved. 28 day rule has now been reduced to 14 days. I think it will not be an issue in your c...

Child applicants with criminal records . This is the only one that I can think of that could be considered close to what you propose. Since citizenship isn't a right, it's difficult to make a case that anyone was wronged by its denial, hence the lack of precedent for adult applications. But there a...

The chances are more like 1/10000. But if you've got the money to burn and don't let yourself get your hopes up too much, you can rest assured that the money will be put to good use funding the UK immigration system if nothing else.

Re: Citizenship refusal due to tv licence conviction

It's also important to keep in mind the UK government can decide to bestow citizenship however they wish, by whatever means they wish. They can also deny it for whatever reason they like (however menial or arcane) or no reason at all. Indeed that is a right of any sovereign nation. No, I disagree o...

Is it not worth convincing them that it was one minor offence done by a person of otherwise good character and their decision not to grant might be disproportionate? Thank you for your insights.
