See also here for the list of people who qualify for a UK passport who are not citizens. But if you belong to one of those categories (British subject, British protected person etc), isn't that reported on your passport? In other words, doesn't your passport clearly identify you as not a British ci...

In countries like Germany and Netherlands , Germany for example issues a different Birth certificate to children who are not born German, and have a separate birth cert for foreign children born in Germany. Same like Netherlands, they even issue international birth cert in English That's really int...

Even a passport doesn't necessarily mean citizenship. why do you think that a passport doesn't represent nationality? A passport may be issued to a person who: holds nationality but is not a citizen , is a subject of a monarchical crown, is an oversees citizen, has protected status, etc.... Not all...

Re: Indian Passport for kid with Indian Mom and British Dad

passport is a travel document and holding passport of a country does mean citizenship of that country. No it doesn't. The British passport eligibility website list several groups of people who are eligible to hold UK passports who are not British citizens. My own country grants ' nationality ' stat...

It's a good question. And there is no definite answer. I've often wondered how anyone really could know the person standing next to them is in fact actually a UK citizen. Even a passport doesn't necessarily mean citizenship. How could an employer really vet somebody? How could that person prove them...

Hi Guys, I am a british citizen and have an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), my wife has an Indian Passport. We recently had a baby a few weeks ago. How can a child born in the UK, who has never left the country, be considered an overstayer? As far as I'm aware, there are no passport control personnel in the delivery rooms of non-citizen parents waiting for baby to pop out of the womb! Would your date of entry be considered your birthday?!? Woul...

Are you really going to have to travel 52 weeks. I would think you would get 4 weeks off or something to that effect that would shave 20 days off your total right there. If you timed things right with public holidays, you could probably extend take another 5 days off or more. Is the company going to...

Hi, Two important questions: 1. Why would you want to cancel your pending application and then apply again? Does that not negate the end result of what you want to achieve and duplicate effort? 2. By choosing to withdraw your application, will you be still have leave to remain or has your visa alre...

yes this advice sounds correct. after all why would anyone want ILR if they already have permission to stay here. The reason I wanted ILR as soon as I qualified, though still having 3 years left on a renewed work permit, was because I didn't want to have to try and move my family to another country...

US nationals constitute one of the largest groups of denials of entry at my port together with Brazilians who are well known for overstaying and illegal working. Hmm thanks. Well still waiting to hear back from a few companies. One thing, some say they employ not EU people but also say 'work permit required', is a work permit the same as a tier2 visa or are they separate? The visa names have changed a bit in the past few years. What they probably mean is si...

Re: What happens if I don't get granted a Marriage Visa?

I wrote the address down wrong by accident. I switched a couple number in the postal code. Just worse case... if I don't get the visa... will I have to leave and go back home? This probably isn't a deal-breaker. Nevertheless, you should write them a letter explaining the error and give them the cor...

Agreed. But it is better than no possibility and it is specifically mentioned on their website. I just wonder what the real possibilities are. Could she come back with her family in tow and get ILR back right then?

I was under the impression that you could regain you ILR if your were a previous permanent resident with the intention of re-establishing your life back in the UK and had strong family ties. I would think her husband and children count as strong family ties, but perhaps that is my own interpretation...

1. Unknown/Home Office discretion. 2. A Birth Certificate has nothing directly to do immigration. It is merely certification/documentation that the event of birth has occurred in the UK. If they are married, the child automatically has UK citizenship because of the father's status (currently ILR). ...

Funny advice about marriage. If it is LOVE, then Ok. But if it is arranged marriage and you are busted then it is 10 years ban from UK or worse. Arranged marriages are perfectly legal. Marriages of convenience for the sole sake of deceiving the UKBA in order to obtain a visa or other considerations...
