The laws are the laws, and can not be hajacked. This argument can go on forever, and I, like almost everyone else, have my own opinion of immigration. However, I would like to make one point about the above quote as it is one of the biggest problems here. Immigration 'law,' as well as other 'laws' ...

Re: excercise of treaty right for EU citizen in Ireland.

If an eu citizen gets registered as a job seeker in Ireland, would it be enough to proof that she is excercising her treaty right and for her non- eu spouse to apply for resident card( stamp4EUFAM) ? Is it possible for a non- eu spouse of eu citizen, from a visa free country to be issued with stamp4...

You do not have to go the EU route in order to gain permission for your partner to remain in Ireland without getting married. Irish law allows for de facto relationships, and the proof of a durable relationship of at least 2 years is required in both Irish and EU law. However, the de facto relations...

Holiday before study?

Hi everyone, I have a question about the student visa and entry to the UK. I'm (US) currently living in Ireland with my EU partner. I've been told by many on here that the UK is very strict regarding partnership visas and will require both our names on a lease for a minimum of 2 years; however, we d...

Moving to London - where to live?

My partner and I are moving to London in July/Aug and are currently working on a budget for the move as we like to plan ahead and I'll be a full-time student. London is so big and we really don't know much about the different areas. I'll be attending KCL Waterloo Campus and she'll be freelancing, so...

Nevermind, I just found it on the IND website. It was listed in the exceptions to the 5-year term. It seems it has to be 3 years of marriage and cohabitation for it to be possible to apply from abroad. From IND Website: You are married to or are the registered partner of a Dutch man or woman. If thi...

I believe that is the only way from the sound of it, as I need a visa for study purpose. It really sucks because we'll have our name ...

I partly agre with benifa, that you should not worry too much. But since you are not married it is more difficult for you. Some countries assume that two years of history together is a golden number. If you have less than two years of documented history, then they may say no. (And you can appeal). ...

I assume you are not married. You might want to consider applying for an Residence Card in Ireland (4EUFam in Ireland) so that you have documented proof of being together under European law. It may not matter, especially if you have a good paper trail behind you, but it is also free to apply. We ar...
