What does your partner do currently, in Ireland? Hi benifa, She currently works for a small e-learning company. She has a BA in Multimedia Management and has several years of experience, including a year+ at senior level. Her current role is Senior Animator. Also, she has been living here for 12+ y...

Moving to the Netherlands with Dutch Partner

Hi everyone. I'm an American currently residing in Ireland with my Dutch Partner of 2+ years. We are looking into moving to the Netherlands. I'm currently in Ireland on a trainee accountant visa; however, it runs out in Feb 2010. We will be making an application based on EU law for me to remain in I...

I've been looking into the de facto relationship for EU1 as my girlfriend is Dutch and has been living in Ireland for 12 years at this point. Her parents moved here when she was 12. Anyway, we have thought about seeking advice from a solicitor as we have been together for more than 2 years, but only...

Equivalent Qualification

Hi everyone. Hoping someone here can help. I'm applying for the PGCE course and was hoping someone new the US GPA to UK class equivalents. I have a 3.1 overall GPA and a 3.5 GPA in my major. Is that a 2.2 or 2.1? Also, if there are any Americans out there who have applied for this course, I could us...

As an American travelling in Europe, I've never been questioned, except in Ireland when an immigration officer called me a lire and said there was no such thing as a Stamp 1A, this was even after showing him my work/training contract and a letter to the GNIB from the ICAI in regards to the stamp. Ho...

Thanks Obie. Just curious if anyone has applied for EEA2 as an unmarried partner and had it approved. Anyone? If you so, could you tell me what you included? I'm worried about the lack of lease and joint bank account. We have been in a durable relationship; however, immigration has made things diffi...

Process Time

Hi everyone.

Could someone tell me how long it takes to receive the study visa? Also, do you have to apply from the country you're a citizen of. I'm American, but I'm currently resident in Ireland. May I submit my application from Ireland?

Cheers.

kabuki, You are right, the wait times are very different. My wait was only 3 weeks (13 July 2009 - 4 August 2009) but there are others on this forum waiting for a year. The one question I can answer for you, though, is that you cannot apply for EEA2 in person. I don't know if this is the correct su...

Hi all. My partner, who is Dutch, and I (American) are thinking of submitting an EEA2 application as she's interested in studying/working in the UK, and I'm looking into PGCE Secondary Education courses there for September 2010. What's the average wait time on this? I seem to see different wait time...

There is a 2 year program to teach and get qualified while teaching; however, they don't accept applicants requiring a work permit, which is why I was wondering if we can apply using the EU directive. However, I'd be happy to just study full-time on a student visa and then apply for the post-study v...

Oxford Brookes University and ACCA work together on the ACCA papers and once you pass the first 9 papers you can complete a project for the BSc Honours in Applied Accounting. You even go to the university in Oxford for graduation. Oxford Brookes employs those who write the exams and ensure that they...

Unmarried partner of EU national

Is it possible for me to use the EU directive to move with my partner (who is Dutch) to the UK? I've been living with her in Ireland for 1.5 years now, though we've only been on the same lease for about 10 months. However, we aren't looking to move until at least June-September 2010 (she's looking i...

I'm and American currently living in Ireland and working towards the ACCA qualification. You'll be better off asking someone in the UK forums, but I think it is, as the option given for level of qualification is for a masters or professional qualification. However, I'm unsure of the details.

It is possible to get a F-1 visa, but you attendance at a public secondary school is limited to 12 months and full tuition must be paid in advance. I believe a child can attend a private secondary school on a student visa until graduation. A private high school will average around $7000-8000/year. M...

I'd say it would be possible, but you would have to sign all legal rights over to the person your son would be living with, essentially he'd have to be adopted and I don't believe that would happen in time. However, if your son would like to go for 6 months to 1 year, you could look into high school...

You're best bet is to go to college. You can also look into the J-1, but that is only a 4 month work and travel visa, which may require you to be a recent graduate or current college student.

I'd say either complete a decent college degree in the UK or go to the US as a student.

It's not the engagement that is in question, it's the marriage. You can get engaged on the tourist visa, but you can't proceed with the wedding while on that visa. You will have to leave the country while your girlfriend remains in the US and files the visa paperwork from there. After the visa is re...

You are able to enter the US with the intent to marry and stay; however, you must apply for a Fiance(e) (K-1) visa, which is a non-immigrant visa, but can be switch to an immigrant spouse visa.
