If it is business trip and you will be paid salary in UK, it is ok. These days are not counted in "days out of UK" when applying for ILR. No problem for extension.

Business trips are not counted in the 3 months limit. When filing ILR, you will need a letter from you employer that you were out of UK on business trips and you were paid full salary during this time.

Yes, your spouse has to go back. Forget about visitor visa. My wife has been studying her under her independent student visa. After completion of her studies, she went back for Tier 1 dependent visa. I know it is tough...but accept the truth.

Ya she can be granted long term visa (2 yrs or more). But every visit should not be more than 6 months. That means she need to go back after 6 months....and if she want to come back again she do not need to apply for visa again as she would have her long term visa. Hope this helps.

As per current rule, you need to stay 5 years contineous for ILR and your dependent need to stay 2 yrs contineous in UK. Hope this helps.

In my case immigration officer didn't ask a single word about job offer. I arrived UK in Sep, 2009. Not sure, if it is new rule. I travel out of UK a lot and every time I reach here the immigration ask me which company you work for.
