Your wife can apply for tier1 dependant visa and yes , she need to sitch from psw to tier1 dependant from home country.. she is not applying in advance ..she is switching from one category to another one and that shouldnt be a problem

you dont need to wait for the last month to renew ur passport .. you can renew it before 3 months of expiry

The new consultation of Tier1 is not aaplicable for Tier1 general- The consultation is for Tier1 exceptional talent / investors etc who are in the system.

since it is on companuy letterhead it should be fine . dont forget to mention this on your cover letter ..also , if possible, get it stamped from HSBC
