First British Passport after Naturalisation

So wife gained British citizenship a few years ago but we didn't apply for a passport as we were not planning on traveling.

Now have renewed her US passport - am I correct that for the British passport I need to send in her US passport? I mean what is the reasoning behind this?

What is the obsession with the US - India has a fantastic tech industry.

Once you add up all the healthcare and living costs you won't be saving much.

British Citizen Travelling on US Passport

Booked tickets to travel to USA in August - wife is a dual US and UK citizen but she has her US passport but not applied for UK passport - should we apply for UK passport before we go or after we return?

I understand that you need to post her US passport to the passport office as part of the process?

Re: Does HMPO Accept Certified Copies of Certificates

Yes I know a passport is a travel document but then they don't accept birth certificates of the child in question - we are not issued certificates of being UK citizens at birth so they just make it up as they go along. I simply have no faith in them not losing it as then what evidence would my mothe...

Does HMPO Accept Certified Copies of Certificates

On behlaf of my brother HMPO is asking for the original naturalisation certificate of my mother - I am loathe to send it in to them - would they accept a certified copy from the Post Office? He has emailed them but they have not replied - https://www.postoffice.co.uk/identity/document-certification ...

Re: Child born abroad to two British Citizens

Passport doesn't equal proof that these people are able to pass citizenship - see https://www.immigrationboards.com/post2100453.html#p2100453 for more in depth comment. How did both parents get citizenship, what was their parents' status? I read that above - there is no ILR. My brother and his wife...

Re: Child born abroad to two British Citizens

Both parents (my brother and his wife) got their citizenship because they were born in the UK and parents of both my brother and his wife were and still are UK citizenships at the time of their births.

Child born abroad to two British Citizens

On behalf of brother. Is the child born abroad to two British parents automatically a British Citizen? Both parents are British by birth. Both hold UK passports and have no other citizenship. Child was born 2 weeks ago. Received a letter stating the following "As XX and XX were born in the Unit...

Child Passport Renewal

Our DD passport has expired. I am confused as to why we need to complete section 4 again - to confirm the child citizenship when this would have been done in the initial application. If it needs to be completed which parent completes it? My child was born after 30 April 2006 and I am a British citiz...

I just assumed that they ask for the NI number during the Citizenship application and when its granted they inform the HMRC.

So once you gain UK citizenship does the Home Office inform the HMRC that you have become a UK citizen?

US Embassy London Appointments

Has anyone had any luck in getting an appointment for a CRBA? I have been logging on everyday since August to the US Embassy site to book an appointment for CRBA and they have no availability. I emailed them and they provided links to their website. You can't even call and ask for an appointment eit...

Re: UK First Time Passport Application after Naturalisation

The web page here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passport Says: It is taking longer than usual to process applications because of coronavirus. Do not apply unless you need a passport urgently for compassionate reasons, for example if a family member has died, or for government business. It seems t...

UK First Time Passport Application after Naturalisation

I just called the Passport service and was advised that unless there was an urgent requirement my partner could not apply for a first UK passport after naturalisation as all the offices were closed for interviews. She became a naturalised UK citizen just over 3 years ago. But we had no need for a UK...

Re: Has anyone ever posted a passport abroad?

Why can't he enter on his us passport and simply explain the situation. There is no legal requirement that a British citizen just enter the UK on a British passport. I have read that a few times but I would not be so sure the border agents know that and if you try to explain it to them they can bec...

Re: Has anyone ever posted a passport abroad?

He is years old, if that makes any difference.

With the way UK Border force is these days. Is it more risky to send the passport or try explaining to the Immigration Officer?

Would it make any difference the flight is back via Dublin where we will clear customs I assume?

Has anyone ever posted a passport abroad?

So my son is in the US but his UK passport is back in the UK. I thought it would be easy to post a passport via courier abroad but was surprised that many couriers its on a prohibited list. DHL and UPS will deliver the passport within 1-3 days but said that it may get held up at customs as its unusu...

Re: Can I enter the UK without British Passport

Travel to the US has nothing to do with his UK passport or British citizenship. You can leave the UK with any passport you hold. He should come back to the UK using his British passport to be admitted as a British citizen rather than a US visitor :!: Ok, so we are good to go, we can get the UK pass...

Has section 4 been changed.

In the notes booklet it says

"If both parents were born on or after 1 january 1983...

On the form it states

"If either parent named below

My wife and myself are both UK citizens. She by naturalisation and myself by birth.

Re: Sending in Foreign Passport fore UK passport renewal

So he can keep his US passport as we are intending to travel to the US in 2 weeks - I doubt the UK passport will be back by then.

Only checked his passport now when I cam to book tickets.
