i think postal applications with family(children in particular) and posted seem to go through quicker, most people seem to be applying through NCS at present though

gilberty it sounds like you may have to just keep regularly visiting, but you may have to seek legal advice there may be compassionate grounds, but also maybe some ancestry case there as your mother is British and lives here. Seeing that your job is based abroad, you are not really working in the UK...

post more info, such as when/where did you get married, when did she come to uk, when did her student visa run out and did she apply for renewal before it ran out, what type of visa was she issued etc...as it stands it sounds like you may have applied too soon

On the form always asks date of first arrival in the UK, so therefor you need to count from that time onwards
