calculating absences outside UK - letter from Border Agency

Dear All I thought I would share this reply from the UK Border Agency as I thought you might find it interesting, especially as when calculating the absences outside UK. Their response is different from some of the discussions we've had on the board. This letter arrived a few weeks ago. Best wishes ...

Yes I see, but I am wondering if it is 90 days in calendar year, or from start of visa or is it in any 12 month period?

Just hoping someone might have had this experien e before?

Thanks

90 day absent rule - can I do 2x 90 with a short return?

Hi guys I just wanted your opinion on this. I really want to be out of uk for 1 semester to complete a course but need 15 weeks. If I was away 90 days then returned for say a week or so then away for another 4 weeks would it be ok, provided I stayed within the total of 225 (45 per year on average) o...

yes I know its early! its just I do have some other options other than living in UK so I would hate to make any long term plans without knowing what it could mean. so does it seem likely to get 2 extensions? I am already early 30s so would be relying on income to get the points the 3rd time round.

(from what I have read the extension is 2 years) leaving me just 3 mths short of the 5 years? what would I do in this situation? Apply ...

ILR confusion - apologies if this is a silly question!

Hi there

Got Tier 1 General 20/5/09 valid 3 years
Arrived UK 17/8/09

If I get the extension for further 2, will that be enough time to then apply for ILR? If not, can you extend a 2nd time for a few months to meet the requirement?

Am a little confused!

Thanks and best wishes. alw
