Thanks for the clarification. I guess first the mum has to use the British child to apply for the two and half then i can proceed with the daughter's application after that. I take a salary from my UK company and pay my taxes so I believe that can qualified as present and settled.

As a director of the company you are an employee of the company not self employed. Your position in the company is Director. As a director you are require to submit tax returns and the tax office reference number may be your UTR number or the employers PAYE reference number.

I think you should be fine. I had a worse situation than yours but my application was approved. I will advice you to keep your accommodation in the uk and try and come to the uk every 3 months for some few days. I applied on the 7th March through Newham NCS. I had excess absence of 170 days in the final year. I wrote a covering letter explaining the excess absence which was due to trying to build my small uk registered business in africa. I received my approval today. Thank God.
