Sorry, I forgot to add that I'm registered with HMRC as a Sole Trader and have been paying my quarterly Class 2 NI Contributions.

Also, I started the Sole Trader biz in January...is it true I have to be at least 12 months in business before I can pay tax on my earnings?

Thank you.

Hi Senior Members, May I respectfully ask if some more light can be shed on the workings of being a Sole Trader vis-a-vis claiming points for income earned in this line of work? As I mentioned in a previous post, so much has been written about Limited companies but very little about Sole Trading or ...

Online statement stamped, signature still required?

Hi Mvent00 Online bank statements are only accepted if they were signed and stamped by the bank manager. You must have these signed and stamped otherwise your application would be rejected again. Just so I can be sure as I've only got my eSavings online bank statement 'stamped' by my Lloyd's TSB bra...

Hi All,

So much has been said and written about the Limited company option but not much about the Sole Trader option...in particular with respect to Tax.
Is it a good time or thread to bring this up or better to start another thread?
Thank you.

Hi InnocentDevil (interesting moniker :) ), I think you're right there. I'd stopped my paper statements to i. do my bit for the environment and ii. implement a line of protection from identity fraud (I reckon my statements will not fall into the wrong hands if they are not printed in the first insta...

Will close Lloyd's account post renewal...

Hi All, By way of an update, I went back to my Lloyds TSB branch again this morning and 'calmly' explained the HO's requirement as per prooving the availability of my Maintenance Fund...they were not having any of it. And you'd be amazed at the number of 'immigrants' on the queue whose requests for ...

Hi All,

Has anyone had a walk-in/same-day experience with obtaining one's bank statements from any Lloyds TSB branch?
And what branch if in yes?
Thank you all.

Hi Wasifnagi,

How much were you claiming from self-employment?
Was it all from one company or different companies?

Any other Lloyds TSB experience?

Hi InUkOnHsmp,

Nice one...'thought the 'HTH' was your name!

Does the Cambridge branch also provide cover letters as per the 3-month availability of the maintenance fund?

Cambridge is some way to go...I live in London!

Anyone else here with Lloyds TSB experience?

Thanks.

Hi HTH, Thanks for the feedback. If this is the case and you actually did get yours from their Cambridge branch, then this lack of consistency on their path is rather worrying seeing as some applicants would readily get these (Bank statements and Cover letter) depending on what branch while some of ...

Cover Letter / Bank Statements from Lloyds TSB...and others

So so confusing...

I'm afraid that everything you have written is 100% correct. Most Umbrella companies have a very loose, if any, understanding of immigration an its requirements and so will recommend the wrong choices for you. There are a few Umbrella Companies out there that do specialise in helping those such as ...

HSMP Workers in contract roles need to be wary or BEWARE?!

Dear Vanadil, Many thanks for the feedback...really appreciated. It appears however that new HSMP arrivals who may end up or are already on-ground working under Umbrella companies in 'overarching contract roles' need to really, really be wary or BEWARE?! That said, however, is it that HMRC has done ...

Gross Earnings as a Contractor working under an Umbrella com

My first job coming into the UK last year was in a contract position. The Recruiting Agent had asked if I was going to take on the role using my own company. I told her that I did not have a company of my own so she recommended an Umbrella company who she gave my contact details to and who later con...
