Know These rules could never be applicable on the people who are already here under spouse or FLR (M). How can they apply this law over them. They could not remove the family's who are illegal in this country because of human rights violation. so how can they ruin some one life who is citizen of thi...

I can't see that kind of level being applied either, it is plain unreasonable. We got a mortgage based on what we could jointly afford. If I lost my job or my girlfriend lost hers we'd still have £139 per week after mortgage and c tax (or much more if my girlfriend was the one still in employment. ...

I've been through the consultation again and I thought MWill was right until I got to page 30, where the confusion once again surfaces. If you look at the diagram on that page it shows the proposed criteria that must be met for a leave to remain application and the requirements for settlement (ILR)....

I've just pored through the FLR(M) and SET (M) forms and can't find a single mention of the word 'sponsor' anywhere. The person who is settled in the UK is only referred to as 'partner'. I tried to look for forms for those looking for leave to enter as the partner or spouse of someone already presen...

That's what I'm thinking. They can't say they want those remaining here to integrate and not be a burden on the tax payer but then refuse them because they have a good job, pay taxes and speak English. Thinking about it, the examples in the consultation, from what I remember, were all citizens/those...

Cheers for those links vinny. I've just read up on the primary purpose rule and I'm confused. It says that immigrants had to prove they didn't want residency when applying to stay with their British partner. Of course they want residency, that's how they'll be able to stay with that person. Can anyo...

Does anyone have any idea what the minimum threshold might be placed at? I presume they'll have to make it relate to the amount you pay in rent/mortgage each month too? There'd be no point having a minimum income threshold if the sponsors monthly payments took up 95% of that amount. There seems a lo...

This is what I want to know Greenie. As I mentioned in another thread , I only earn 19k but my girlfriend (the applicant) earns 27k and has been working in the UK since she graduated from her university course here almost three years ago. My mortgage is £675 a month and I'm worried they'll take one...

My partner has lived here for over 3 and a half years now and in September last year we got further leave to remain as unmarried partners on the FLR(M) visa. We've lived together the whole time as she came as a student and we had known each other 2 years before that. The only thing I'm worried about...

Sorry guys, looks like I had the wrong end of the stick with time spent outside the UK limits - I've just found the following paragraph on the UKBA site regarding time spent outside the UK if applying for ILR as an Unmarried Partner and there doesn't seem to be a rule at all. It DOES say, however, t...

Confused about personal travel/work travel allowances

Hi guys, My girlfriend (US citizen) and I (Brit) got our FLR(M) as Unmarried Partners in Sep 2010 and if we apply for ILR in September 2012 (if the rules aren't changed in July) I'm confused about travel permitted outside of the UK. Since she arrived in September 2007 and going up to March 2011, my ...

Any hope of getting a mortgage?

Hi guys, Kristen (my girlfriend) and I have decided to think about buying a house. Kristen is a US citizen on the Unmarried Partner visa since September 2010 and I'm a British-born UK citizen. We both earn fairly decent wages (to repay the mortgage on the properties we're looking at anyway), have a ...

Days outside the UK and ILR

Hi guys, Is there a rule for how many days you're allowed to spend outside the UK when in a probation period before applying for ILR? Not applying for it for a couple of years but when we got the FLR(M) visa last week the officer checking our application mentioned it would be good for my girlfriends...

FLR(M) success, my experience of Liverpool PEO & thank y

Hi everyone, My girlfriend (US citizen) and I (British citizen) went to Liverpool PEO today for our appointment to apply for the FLR(M) Unmarried Partners visa. We got it and we're over the moon! As promised in an earlier thread, I'm posting this for others to read about our experience and hopefully...

Right, I've just got back from visiting two different 3 stores to see about getting the bills stamped. Both of them said they don't have stamps available at the stores, or even headed paper, as all admin work is done by the guys in the call centres. I called the call centre and asked if I could get ...

I'm thinking I'll go into a 3 store this afternoon just to see if they have an official stamp they can put on each statement. I'm not going to necessarily get them stamped today, I just want to see. If they do then I have to make a decision to either take them along as they are, as Casa suggested, a...

That's a positive spin on it :D I just called the UKBA out of interest and asked about the 3 statements. The lady I spoke to said it would be up to me if I took them, but if I did I'd need to just explain that they are genuine and that they were sent by 3 after I asked for them. She said if it was p...

Thanks for that. I had been speaking to someone else who went for this appointment last year and told me the person checking the documents will pick random months for you to show bills for, so you're actively handing them over rather than just giving them the whole file of documents you've taken and...

Sorry to confuse Casa, if I have. What I mean is that because they look such poor quality and do not say 'copy' or 'duplicate' on them (therefore just looking like photocopies of an original bill, which isn't permitted), should I tell them when I hand them over that they are duplicates of the origin...

I'll take whatever they tell me with a grain of salt. Last time I called twice to verify what I had been told and got two different answers! I'm just trying to get as much info as possible to help me do the right thing and be prepared. I'm going to take the bills from 3 with me as you recommended an...

Just to add to that, the reason I'm concerned about not taking those bills from 3 is because we have quite a lot from the other months, so I was worried that a gap like that, although it still meets the criteria as a whole, may concern the IO as we have so many documents from periods before and afte...

Cheers guys. I'm going to call UKBA on Monday and just see what they say out of interest. I'll let you know what they say Monday and then I need to decide if taking this bills would make our application weaker, or if I have the balls to leave them out and hope it'll be ok without. I'll let you know ...

Thanks Casa, that makes me feel a lot better. If they ask for bills from that period, is it worth me explaining honestly that I threw stuff away and that I'm aware that those bills look like I've printed them but they are copies from the company, or should I just say nothing and hand them over? Also...

Hi Casa, I have a big gap between April 09 - September 09 as I didn't know the visa existed. For some reason I saved bills before this period, even though I didn't know it existed then, but stupidly threw away nearly all the bills and statements I received between those months. I know the applicatio...
