That's horrible to hear Bechir ! surely these IPS people should be able to link into the HO database and get whatever information they need as these "tests" would have been done by the HO before granting approval for naturalization. Also why can't they check with various external agencies-...

Racing fire you should be able to do the ceremony with the approval letter. Phone your local council and ask.

Racingfire congratulations !! really pleased for you mate. Hope this relieves the stress of the past few weeks. The process is really stressful and agonising. I only got one letter from the HO which said that my application had been approved and that I should contact my local council (details were m...

Hi PCB,

Apart from all your previous passports and life in the UK test pass letter you will also need to provide all the previous letters from the HO that came along with your work permits/HSMP and ILR.

Good luck. Hope it goes all smoothly for you.

Cheers

Sid

Update

Folks here another update from me. Had my citizenship ceremony on Monday, 9th November and today applied for my passport through PO check and send (countersignee only came back yesterday from business trip so had to wait until then). Will keep you all posted with further updates. Good luck to all of...

Hi Zaidir, Many thanks for your post. Very useful indeed. Completely share your thoughts on the harshness of the fees. £90 for a certificate is excessive in anyone's book considering the amount of labour and effort involved ! It would be interesting to find out if the HCI's in other countries parti...

I agree with f2k. You only become a British Citizen the day you complete the citizenship ceremony. An approval from the HO based on your application only makes you eligible to complete the BC process but the process is only regarded as complete once the citizenship ceremony is done. So no need to wo...

Guys I'm going to be applying for the surrender certificate soon (as soon as I receive my British passport). What supporting documents do I need to submit along with the completed application form and fee?

Thanks for your advice in advance

Hi Kesh,

I don't think your uncle will have any issue. I know someone who basically lived at a friends place for 6 months while he was searching for a job (was on an HSMP at the time) and he didn't have any issues getting his BC earlier this year.

Hope this helps

Kesh thanks very much for your kind words. I am really appreciative of the support, guidance and comfort that members of this forum have given me through the one month ordeal of my naturalization process. Without this forum I would have definitely been a nervous wreck. My journey to BC will end tomo...

Hi Tango Orange you should be able to get the registrar's office number for your local council online. Call them and ask to be transferred to the nationality checking service. Hope this helps.

Hi Bechir, Can you please confirm the date given on your citizenship certificate. Is it the 2nd of November, which was the date of your ceremony. I ask this because I am due to have a private ceremony on Monday (9th) and want to send off the passport application the same day, Unfortunately the count...

Oh I didn't know that ...even then all you need for travel is your passport from country of origin and based on browsing through this and other forums I think you'll get back your passport by the 25th if you apply ASAP. They usually return documents within 7-10 working days if you use Post Office ch...

Hi Tango Orange, I'm afraid only your local council or if you requested a different one at the time of making your application can do the ceremony and present you with your certificate. If you to take it somewhere else as far as I know you have to ask the HO to transfer the certificate there. From m...
