Mainly because I have a healing condition that means I would prefer to have a Caesarean. But you can't opt for a Caesarean here - at least not in my area. Besides, a few of my friends have given birth recently and they have all had horrendous experiences due to overstretched and understaffed hospita...

Thank you vinny – after many calculations we have found that due to the time periods involved, it will not be possible for my husband to apply for British citizenship before the baby is born. So we have decided to go with the first option of applying for an Indian passport for the baby, getting se...

Child born in India to ILR parents

My husband was on a succession of WPs and Tier 2 permits between July 2005 and October 2010. I joined him on a dependant visa in August 2006. We both applied for ILR in October 2010 and have received it. Our baby is due in early 2012 and I will be going to India for the delivery. Our plan was to app...

Tier 2/ ILR – question about gap in employment

Hi, I’m hoping senior members can provide some guidance. My husband is on Tier 2 visa with employer A. He has got a new job with Employer B who have issued the COS through their immigration agents. These agents do not do premium appointments so they will be sending the papers by post – which I g...

Thank you. I suspected as much. We'll just have to see what the situation is a month before his application.

And yes he's changed employers several times in order to get better jobs. He joined this one in January.

Unfortunately it is essential for the employer letter to indicate in some way that the employee will continue to be employed there even after ILR - even if it is only for one day. We have spoken to a solicitor and he confirmed this. As for lying - this employer has been very difficult to deal with a...

Employer letter date

Hi all, My husband is on probation with his employer and the signs are that he will not be made permanent at his review meeting. The real reason for this is that the company has overrecruited and is now shedding staff - but the reason given to him is poor performance (his targets are double the high...

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, his visa (leave to remain) was valid at all times so nothing to worry there. Now the main problem is going to be him hanging onto his job till he is due for PR. His boss has taken a dislike to him and the probationary period is still not over so we are worried they wil...

WP/ Tier 2 - ILR possible with gap?

My husband entered UK on 14th July 2005. He has changed jobs many times and there are 2 gaps in his employment. First one is only 22 days so I think it is ok? Second one - his P45 says last day of work is 24th Oct 2009. His offer letter from new job is dated 12th Nov 2009. But due to some issues in ...

Earnings proof - desparate - please help

Hi all, I have been posting a number of questions recently due to the likelihood of my husband losing his Tier 2 job and therefore my need to get Tier 1. Last time I checked I was eligible for Tier 1 but this morning I find I am 5 points short. On investigation it seems either therule has changed or...

Further question

If I reenter UK as Tier 1 holder and in the meantime, my husband manages to find a new sponsor and eventually manages to get PR, what are our options? Suppose my husband gets PR and I remain on Tier 1 - which I guess will be valid till May 2012. He can then apply for naturalisation in July 2011. Can...

WP holder lost job - can dependant work? - PLEASE HELP

My husband recently lost his job. He has not yet received the home office letter that asks him to leave the country. If he receives it, of course, we will leave but if he doesn't, is he legally allowed to stay here? All info I can find indicates that he can stay here until his FLR expires , which is...

Maintenance funds for Tier 1

I have some questions regarding Tier 1. 1) My husband is curently on work permit in the UK and I am on dependant visa. If I go back to India and change to Tier 1, can he change to Tier 1 dependant from within the UK or does he have to go to India as well. 2) I have sufficient funds for maintenance i...
