Salaam All Posting this message from Karachi :-) landed here at 1pm, out the airport at 1:35pm, straight to Gerrys office with my wife for 2pm and at 2:40pm my mrs came out with her passport and visa stamped 30/10/09. Funny enough she still didn't get a phone call from Gerry's to say she should come...

learner007 & Topgun - i've taken your advice and asked my wife to just go to Gerrys office - the collection time is 2-5pm so she's got 45 minutes to get there...

Thanks everyone. D_W - mine was a 'fresh' spouse settlement case and should be completely straightforward. I don't understand why your case is taking sooo long - i pray inshallah that it's worth the wait and your visa comes through very soon. My wife rang Gerrys in Karachi and they've told her to wa...

Thanks Batleykhan - i understand that, i just wanted to gauge an idea of how long my wife's application will take as my dates are near to those of kayanii's. As it happens, i've just checked again this morning on Gerry's website and have read the following: Application date 8/5/2009 Status Your appl...

Hi D_W - i did read your message earlier, seems really strange that you've not heard anything in 6 months.. :-( i hope there isn't a bias against Karachi applicants,i'm on 70 days and i know my application is straightforward!! I share your frustration but deep down we all know that everything happens...

Hi Iffy, You got the same response as me and RaniG and i'm certain that it's just a generic response to fobb people off. Why else would they say don't contact Gerry's and send any further queries to the other email address, where if you try (like i have) you'll just get another generic response. If ...

Vasey - my mate at the IAS told me to include the title deeds to my property as well as a mortgage statement simply on the basis that when they assess the application, they have everything in front of them. It is relatively simple to get hold of - you can print them from the land registry website fo...

Hi Vasey,↲↲I think you've got it all covered, not sure if there is a need for your qualifications though.↲↲I got all my documents checked by a mate who works for the IAS (Immigration Advisory Service) and he only included 3 months wage slips and bank statements and a P60,which i've noticed yo...

Thanks Bazzy_1.

It does seem to me to be a generic response but you just never know with them. My slight glimmer of hope has now become subdued :(

It'll happen when Allah wants it to happen - i hope it's very soon inshallah as i'm flying out there midweek and want to return with my wife.

Hi all, After emailing all the ususal addresses to try and get an update on my wife's settlement application, i contacted visa.abudhabi@fco.gov.uk (knowing they don't process settlement applications there) and received the following reply: Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for your email.
