Thanks KODO. The answer is 2 weeks from the date they received my €950 etc. I sent my €950 etc. by registered post, so I could know when it was received by tracking online via anpost.ie. Exactly two weeks after they received it, I received the letter acknowledging receipt and the date of the citizen...

No delay! I attached a post-it note to my €950, etc requesting my full name as it's that way on every other important document (birth cert, passport, etc) . Two weeks later, I received my Oath date of 1 April. Unless there is an Oath date in Dublin in March, I don't think my request caused a delay. 1...

Re: ?? My Name on certificate of naturalisation

What are your timelines from submission to receiving the letter? I am sure if you included a letter and let them know you prefer your full names, they should get that sorted for you. Sorry for slow reply. Timeline from submission to receiving the letter = 26 months I felt sure they could/would use ...

?? My Name on certificate of naturalisation

My full name is not noted in letter received last Friday(yea!! finally!) that the Minister intends to grant my appl for cert of naturalisation. If I request my middle name to be spelled out, will it delay my progress toward a ceremony appointment and the Certificate if I include the request along wi...

That shouldn't do emmy, as I know few who got their citizenship approved even after claiming illness benefits. I know it may hinder your chances if you claim unemployment benefits. Regarding the cost, it was 150 Euros (same as the fee you pay for GNIB card) I agree, Ace, with "shouldn't do&quo...

I didn't phrase my question well. I have already obtained Stamp 5. (Did not have to go through any hassles at all. Sent cover letter, current and expired passport, and I think that's all). Turned around in about 2 weeks. That was last October. Things may have changed since then. Now, since I HAVE St...

Good character-> Stamp 5-> Naturalisation process

"AS WCATT Stamp is only granted when the Minister is satisfied that you are a person of good character." (Copied from "http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Without_Condition_As_To_Time_Endorsements" page) (Is "AS WCATT"?? a typo?) Does this mean that the "good char...

How about you get both. Not sure if there is any restriction on getting both. At least it doesn't cost anything to get a stamp 5 at the moment. You never know when you'll need either of them. Thanks, 9. Well, since I have the Stamp 5, I probably will keep it, so I can keep the stamp in my US passpo...

As a citizen: - you can have the passport - vote, etc. - you don't lose your residence right if you spend time elsewhere - if you get into trouble with the law, you can't be deported - claiming welfare/benefits does not impact your status - Easier to sponsor spouse for residence - a child born outs...

Thank you all for the points you make. Fortunately, I wouldn't have to surrender my US passport/citizenship, so I would have the advantage of using the passport with the most benefit in a given situation. If I were to travel anywhere except the US, the Irish passport is obviously the preferred one! ...

Citizenship v. Stamp 5

I am a U.S. citizen, living/working here continuously for same employer for just over 10 years. I have Stamp 5. I applied for citizenship in November,2009. Got ref. no, no prob, so it's being processed. But a friend who used to work at Migrant Rights Ireland asked me why was I applying for citizensh...

Definitely a dated return ticket and the letter from your friend (with her address) saying how long you are staying. Bank statement won't hurt. Unless things have changed since my last visitors came, you probably won't really need to produce much. They'll ask you the purpose of your visit, you say &...

I agree w/ LuasP - unless you are an EU citizen, you see, tp be planning to include things they do not ask for, and that just complicates things and could slow it down. Read the checklist on the last page of Form 8 very carefully. " If you are an E.U. citizen for more than five years please sub...

I did not ask if I am guaranteed to get Irish citizenship or guaranteed to be refused Irish citizenship based on illness benefit, as no one is guaranteed anything in this regard. There are certain situations, like points on driving licences, which can negatively affect one's chances of approval. I b...

Illness Benefit & citizenship application

I searched before asking this, but no definitive answer: Does ILLNESS BENEFIT negatively affect our application for citizenship? I have worked (PAYE) here continuously for one employer since early 2000. I've had a number of illness periods which required me to apply for illness benefit (we are paid ...

Naturalisation - Form 8 - in the post! small concern

I posted my application yesterday( Hooray! Hooray! :D), by registered post, signature required, and I also got a proof of posting (proof of the address that it was sent to). So the process begins for me. At the mo' it's languishing in Portlaoise for the weekend. I've another nit-picky concern: As pa...

It's all about getting re-elected. We don't get anyone elected. Only people/groups who can get people elected get response, attention and action. We can vote only at the local level. We are a small influence in that respect. Winning the favour of "immigrants" will not do anything to get an...
