Indeed, I see nowhere in AN form where this information is asked.

What is important is that there is no debt in the applicant's name. However, it does not mean that there is a requirement for each individual applicant to pay council tax.

Re: What makes an application take a long time (or not)?

Here Home Office explicitly confirms the main reason for the delays is shortage of staff due to backlog in passport applications: Applications for British citizenship rose by 3% to 192,705 in the year ending June 2014. A change in language requirements on 28 October 2013 led to an increase in applic...

Re: What makes an application take a long time (or not)?

I don't think HO does any extraordinary checks on most applications for 2 reasons: 1) there are 200,000 a year of them, and the staff is limited. That's about 800 applications per working day! 2) More importantly, the unit costs for naturalization applications are surprisingly modest, at 144 pounds....

If this is indeed true, then why are dependents expected to give extensive evidence for cohabitation with the main applicants at the time when both apply for ILR?

I don't understand the source of your confusion... It quite clearly says that you need a degree certificate, and ONE of the following (and in this set, a PBS print out is mentioned)... So, what's the problem??

Re: Citizenship with overseas salary

How is this even possible?.. I think your tax liability depends on your residence. So, in order to be taxed in the US, you will have to be a resident there (eg, live there for at least half of the year). So, unless you are a US Citizen/permanent resident, I cannot see why you can be taxed in the US,...

not sure. I did mine in a pretty decent place and conducted by Cambridge university, but then again, anything is possible. if the test needs to be taken again, that's fair play. its the silence and waiting that's agonizing!!! Not sure if this applies to you, but apparently all tests provided by Cam...

Re: British Passport Council tax checks

You are worried over nothing, IMO. If any checks are done at all, I think their goal is to find out, with the local authorities, if you are on the list of people who were supposed to pay council tax, but failed to do so. From the very beginning, the council tax in your flat was paid in landlord's na...

Re: ILR and divorce

You don't need to renew an ILR visa. It's permanent. If you divorce you can apply with 5 years residency. Until the divorce is finalised however, you can apply after 3 years of legal residence even if you're separated. You don't need to inform the HO of your divorce . You mention 'when you have set...

Application date question

My appointment is coming up very soon. Just for the peace of mind, can others please confirm that if my qualifying period (i.e., entry clearance being issued) was on 30 July 2009, that I can apply at PEO on 3 July 2014?

Thanks!

If you are on Tier 1 route, you have to show payslips for 12 months, over 15 months period. There is no requirement that you must show a payslip form a previous month.

Re: ILR Success @ Liverpool, 19-06-2014, Tier 1(G)+2 dependa

I asked this because I do not have all the P60s, and was worried about this. However, I checked the application form, and found that economic activity over 5 years is only a requirement for HSMPs/Tier 2 applicants.

Re: ILR Success @ Liverpool, 19-06-2014, Tier 1(G)+2 dependa

Congratulations. However, why did you provide this?

5 x P60s (covering last 5 years)

Was it to demonstrate economic activity over the last 5 years? But this is not required for Tier 1 Generals. Did you do it just in case?

I have one question. You mentioned: "Application form (same as main applicant)". Did you mean that you had one common application form, or that your wife completed a separate SET(O) form?

Well, some countries (e.g. UK) do not make exit stamps, and others (e.g. mine) do not make any stamps at all. So if, say, I went out of UK to my country on 1 June, and came back on 10 June, I will only have one entry stamp from the UK. In such cases, I think one can bring copies of electronic ticket...
