Salary sacrifice for pension is considered as your salary and count towards earning point. My pension salary sacrifice was considered for awarding earning point during my initial application in 2010. If pension contribution is declared in your pay slip then you can include that in your earning. Tho...

Do I have to inform UKBA that I recently changed address?

Note: I have no outstanding applications with them. I also already updated my address with the Police (which is also part of the Home Office).

However, I am uncertain of the precedent supporting this. This is what the OP is wanting to know. Is this the case? If yes, any links supporting that precedent? A better question whether there is a precedent when anyone was convicted/deported for doing any kind of work for a non-UK employer while o...

Re: Freelance online work while on a tourist visa

I'm trying to research the legality of doing freelance writing work while on a UK tourist visa. All of the clients are outside of the UK, payment would not be in GBP and would be deposited into a bank account outside of the UK. I have heard a lot of conflicting info but I can't find anything defini...

It is not the salary that is the problem and I am not against immigrant workers having jobs at all. It is simply that there is a disparity in their rights to be with their family members when British citizens are forced to live apart from their husbands and children are forced to live with out thei...

Best way to prompt UKBA to reply to SAR request?

Sent original request in March, UKBA responded that they received it in mid April. So, technically, there has been 2 months delay already. A couple of weeks ago, I complained by email to dataprotectionunit@UKBA.gsi.gov.uk and to 020 8196 0748 fax number, but there was no response so far. What else c...

Re: Tier 2 disparity of rights?

I am a British citizen abroad and am currently looking to repatriate. I would be looking for work within the scope of a Tier 2 application. In other words other applicants to the posts to which I apply may be foreign immigrants looking to apply for tier 2 visas. I have been told that if I take such...

PBS dependant

Just got BRPs for me and my wife. On my BRP, it's written "Tier 1 General", while on my wife's (who is my dependant) it's written "PBS dependant". Just wanted to check if this is fine? I mean, it should indeed be "PBS dependant", and not "Tier 1 general dependant&q...

We already contribute for this as we are paying the NI. I think this change is mainly for the those who are here and the use the system without having contributed for it (health tourists they are called). The bottom line is that the consultation document does not even mention the option of opting out of NI contributions for those who will use private care. So, you can opt out of paying 200 (or 500, or whatever they are going to charge per year) if you have "comprehensive" private insurance,...

You seem to think paying for insurance covers all your medical costs. You are sadly mistaken. There are more exclusions than inclusions. I have two policies (primary and a secondary "gap" one that is supposed to cover holes) but still face many additional charges. You are right, the priva...

From the practical point of view, the government suggests that we should pay at least 200 pounds per person per year, or 500 per person, or "more". Therefore, for a family of three of working migrants, for example, we are looking at a range of 1,800-4,500 GBP in extra charges when they ext...

Should I give my credit card details, if applying at PEO?

In questions A10-A12 of the application form, they ask for credit card details. However, I understand this question is only relevant to those applying by mail, right? I mean, if I apply at PEO, I will just swipe my credit card and enter PIN number. In principle, I could also write my credit card det...

I am in the same situation as you. I chose first option, as they explicitly wrote period(s).

Nevertheless, I don't see why it should make any difference.

Congratulations, but I don't understand what the worry was all about. There is no requirement that the Tier 1 general holder should be employed at the time of the application for ILR.
