OCI application in person submission – CGI Edinburgh

I am intending to submit OCI applications for me + my wife + my child in person at CGI Edinburgh. The CGI Edinburgh website mentions the opening times of the counter between 9:30am -12:30 pm. Can anyone advise from their experience if there are normally long queues outside the CGI Edinburgh, and if ...

Surrender Certificate for child issued without signature

I recently applied for surrender certificate for me and my family through VFS (postal application) and I received the surrender certificates issued by HCI, London for all of us in 10 days. Me and my wife's surrender certificates have been stamped and signed by the relevant authority of HCI. However,...

Citizenship Certificate for Child Pre-dated - OCI issues?

I applied for British citizenship for my family including my son on the basis of ILR + 1 year (who was born in the UK, and thus entitled to registered as a British citizen) at the end of February through NCS facility. Upon making the application, we went to India for a 10 day short trip (from 20th M...

Lucapooka,

Sorry but I could not get your drift. Did you say that there will not be any issues in getting the visa?

Thanks

Inviting parents for a visit just before visa expiry

One of my friends is inviting his parents for a visit in March until mid-June for the first time. However, his visa runs out at end of June 2012, and he is worried that his parents may be refused the family visitor visa because their return is very close to his visa expiry date. His parents have bou...

FAMILY VISA – LIMIT ON NUMBERS?

If I and my partner wish to invite our parents, at the same time, on separate invitation letters (one by me for my parents and one by my wife for her parents), is that possible? Both of us are settled (ILR) in the UK and are working, have good savings amount deposited in our bank accounts and own a ...

It seems you are within 28 days of completing 5 years in UK, i.e., you have completed 4 years and 11 months. If that is so,you can tick "Yes" as an option for completing 5 years of stay lawfully in UK.

ILR Success-More than 28 days gap between EC &Entry Date

I have finally and successfully got my ILR at Croydon this week. More important to note is that I had a gap of more than 28 days (38 days to be precise) between my entry clearance date and first entry date. Having been an ardent fan of this forum, I have benefited a lot from the forum and would like...

ILR with late entry into UK

I entered the UK in Oct 2006. My 5 year work permit expires in Sep 2011 and there is a gap of more than 28 days between the work permit visa issue and my date of entry into UK. However, as the gap is less than 3 months, I am thinking of applying for ILR directly end Aug / early Sep 2011 after readin...

I have read through all the above posts. I wish to raise the point for work permit holders (those with 5 years work permit visa) who are due ILR later this year. Some of them have gaps in their visa between EC and date of entry which is more than 3 months (so they cannot apply for ILR under recently...

Thanks Sushdmehta ! Your interpretation clears a lot of doubts regarding the rules. One final question that comes to mind. Suppose (Worst Case scenario here!) that the caseworker does not agree to issue ILR to an applicant using his discretion, will he then issue an extension to the existing visa? I...

Vinny, From your post, does it mean that OP can apply for ILR after 4 years and 9 months only, ie., 90 days before completing 5 years in UK, assuming he applies for ILR on 19/05/11? AFAIK, the normal process is to apply for ILR 4 years and 11 months, ie., 28 days before completing 5 years. Apologies...

OP will not have completed 5 years of continuous stay in UK when his visa runs out on 15th June. Even though the new guidelines mention that the caseworkers may count the period between the visa issue and the date of entry for the purpose of calculating ILR provided this is no more than 3 months, it...
