My understanding is that if you wife would ordinarily require a visa to enter the UK she will require one even if she is only transiting through the UK to Ireland. I certainly required one even though was only going to be in Heathrow for 6 hours and not even leaving the Airport terminal. This is due...

The guide lines for form 9 say copies need to be certified by Solicitor? I presume certification by the Guards will be acceptable???

Thanks for that, but does that mean you have to regsiter annualy during the seven years and then after seven consecutive years outside the state its revoked regardless of if you register or not?

Maintaining Citizenship

Can any body tell me what the situation is regarding maintaining Irish Citizenship if residing outside of Ireland? With the economic situation as it is many may be forced to look abroad for work.

I will try that. To answer your question, no my wife is not working. Perhaps you know - does child benefit and drugs payment scheme constitutes Social Welfare ?

Thanks Sideshow. Thats good news . All I can do is comply and see what happens.

Friend of mine had his application processed approved and cert received all in about 20 mnths without any request for additional info. Process seems completely random.

Applied on basis of work permit - I currently have Long Term residency visa. Never taken any SW payments and have no convictions. Everything by the book so far.

Naturalisation

Anybody had this or similar experience? . Applied for wife and I in August 07 . Additional info was requested and submitted Feb 09 and receipt acknowledged. Now today, two letters one for myself and one for wife arrive. My one stating that I did not submit Part 2 of my P21 for 2008 back in February ...
