hi Kiwigirl, have you got any reply from HO yet? I was told by my solicitor already, he said this kind of case has to wait 1-2 years, which means he won't chase it till then. It is very frustrating as he promised we could ring him when 6 months gone if no news. Now don't be bothered till another 1-...

Yes, he is OISC registered. We did not has any news from MP yet. 14 years rule does not mean people did intend to stay here illegally at the first place. My family is an example. We were misleaded by another solicitor few years ago while we were still legal and end up on 14 years rule. We lost a lo...

If your solicitor is OISC registered report him: http://www.oisc.gov.uk/ People think because you are an illegal immigrant they can treat you anyway they want. You don't have to take that, no-one has the right to treat you as a second class citizen. You've paid taxes, been law abiding, contributed t...

My 2 children got British Citizenships last year. Then, we received acknowledgement letter on 11/02/10. So, six months on, no news at all. We have contacted our MP last week, but no news again. We have rang the solicitor few weeks ago, but he said we have to wait more than a year before he would se...

If you don't have British residency how does your children have British citizenship? or am I missing something here? If he's been here for over 14 years, his kids may have born here. If they were, then they could have been registered as britsh citzens on the basis that they've spent the first 10 ye...

bbbb - it is about her and her family, how could you even say such a thing. If her husband is caught lying then the implications are so great for the entire family. They could be torn apart. How could you wish that on any family? UKBA will check the address for other residents, thunder might be luck...

Does the questionnaire / form ask for your status? In any case I still think he needs to be honest. Being dishonest could lead to all of you being in serious trouble. I would like to believe that they do treat each case on its own merits so your husbands case should be dealt with based on what he h...

Anyway after 14years he will not deported. I'm afraid that is not entirely correct. The 14 year rule does not guarantee that the person applying under this rule will be able to stay. Their application is considered the same as anyone applying under any of the other ILR options; it can be easily rej...

You will find that you will get very little or no advice on this board on how to retain your illegal status by use of deception. A good immigration solicitor's initial consulation will be free. I used Mulberry Finch and I had a every informed initial consulation .... free and with an OCIS qualified ...

Thunder, Seek legal advice. In these situations I would always advise speaking to an immmigration solicitor. As the other poster suggested you need to be honest. If discovered this could lead severe implications for future applications for citizenship and your ILR. Lying about your status could be d...

Hello Sticagus - that was a pleasant surprise for you. Congratulations :D Someone somewhere... this thread or another... mentioned that the long term applicants no longer tend to get their MP involved. Well I got my MP involved and he's agreed to take my case on board and sent a complaint to UKBA on...

Sorry I can only advise from a normal everyday banking point of view. I was justifying the fees the bank charge. Most businesses will readily accept a banker's draft as guaranteed form of payment, I had assumed that UKBA followed this rule. Now if UKBA will delay an appliction for this form of payme...

It depends on which bank you bank with. It can range anything from £10 to £25 per cheque. But it's guaranteed that the cheque will clear and it's instant payment to the payee, i.e. they don't have to wait the standard 3 days clearing time.

John quite clearly gives the answer here - I see Visa & Delta on the list. Visa Debit used to be Delta but rebranded to Visa Debit in 2009 (I work for a bank hence the reason I know this). UKBA need to amend their form. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Debit The new form states exactly the same...

sticagus...

It will be interesting to see how long it takes you to get your ILR in comparison to your wife. You both almost applied under the same circumstances so you would think it would be the same processing time... but let's see.

Here's hoping you get it good time :)

You'll need your original passport to travel therefore there is no travelling until UKBA have returned your passport. That particular college has been suspended since mid-2009 hence the reason the certificate was not excepted. I don't understand why a month is to short to sit the Life in UK Test. I personally think that is an acceptable length of time. Find an acceptable test centre and start study asap. I book my ...
