Re: Tax Office Address or Reference for Self Employed

Sorry for resuscitating a 9 year old thread, but I've been puzzling over the same question as the OP, and Amber only seemed to provide an indirect answer. I believe that the Tax Office Address and reference relate to the PAYE system. Therefore if the applicant is a self-employed sole trader operatin...

Re: NEW AN(Citizenship) FORM MAY'2015

Unfortunately for my wife, her referees had already filled in the previous version of the form. I called the Home Office helpline, and they said that the old form is still acceptable for 21 days after an update. I wish I could find that in writing somewhere in the guidance..

Hi guys,

Did any readers happen to take an English language (ESOL) test in Islington, London in 2006? Can anyone remember the name of the centre?

I know its a long shot, but maybe its my lucky day....

Re: Error in HO Language Requirement Document?

OK, thanks. What a confusing system! I think the document would be easier to understand if it simply said "Level B1 or higher". The grades column seems to be redundant.

Re: English Language Requirement/Candidate ID

Hello fwd079, I had the same problem as you. I had FCE certificate without candidate ID and secret number that was issued 2006. I called the exam centre at which I took the exam. They said they don't keep these details for such a long time. However she said that University of Cambridge keeps all th...

English Language Requirement/Candidate ID

My wife is applying for British citizenship as the wife of a UK citizen, and I'm not clear on the Language Requirement. She has a First Certificate in English level B2, Grade B from from August 2006. She has the accompanying Statement of Results with all modules at a sufficient standard, however she...

Re: Professional Referee

ok thanks guys. It seems strange that whilst some of the professions mentioned in their "list of acceptable professional persons" are very specific, like Airline Pilot or Solicitor, we also have "Manager of a Limited Company" which could potentially cover huge numbers of people, ...

Professional Referee

[reposting as first post disappeared...] Hi, I am trying to help my wife fill out her application for naturalization. We are having problems finding a suitable "professional" referee. She knows someone who is in charge of a team of people at a company in the UK. I'm wondering if this count...

ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) granted

My wife received her ILR today, so I thought I'd post the story here in case it helps someone. We were careful getting the documents together, and didn't have any trouble after sending the application form off. date of application: 9 January 2013 date ILR granted: 11 April 2013 We used the SCS (Sett...

Knowledge of language and life in the UK

Hi folks, I've read that the Home Office will soon be requiring applicants for "settlement" to pass the "Knowledge of language and life in the UK" test. I'm unsure about this, because the term "settlement" is often used to refer to INDEFINITE leave to remain, and yet th...

Providing details of a budget seems to me to be the best way of proving to the ECO that you have enough money to live on without resorting to public funds - which is the main aim. After two years or so your wife should be eligible to claim public funds hence why I suggested that time period. OK, th...

The divorce certificate? She already has the divorce certificate in the UK? I think proceed to apply for the CoA. You might also like to phone the British Embassy in her country and ask them about this. Yes, she has a notarized copy of her divorce certificate in Spanish with her here in the UK. (Th...

thanks all for the replies MrDodge, where is your fiancée now? Is she still in the UK on the student visa you mention? She's still in the UK on a student visa which expires at the end of April. As I understand it, we can still try to get a CofA and get married before her student visa expires, but t...

Sponsor Finances for Fiance Visa

Hi folks, I'm a British citizen & resident, and my girlfriend is from Venezuela. We are planning to submit a fiance visa for her in May. My main concern regards finances and employment. I haven't worked for 2 years, but have substantial savings which we've been living off. Last year I sponsored ...
