Just realised that 1317 +385 = 1702 which equals to 2 single applications (£851 2012 fees). It seems that the HO is not treating them as a joint application but as two singles. Either they didn't submit a marriage certificate or they don't live together at the same place (those are the requirements...

Are they sure money was debited on 29/03? Normally the acknowledgement letter is issued as soon as money is debited. It is quite unusual that this happened a month later.
