Re: TIMELINE for Original documents Requested by HO

I should have been more clear. Applied in August 2014 via NCS. Nothing until March this year, when we had this letter asking for a lot of original documents going back ten years or more. Dunno why I said May.....it was in March we had the letter from a Mr Conelly. So far no further news. It's intere...

Re: TIMELINE for Original documents Requested by HO

Applied for BC in August Received letter in May, from a Mr Connely, CT3 asking for original evidence of how my wife supported herself from 2004 to 2010. Payslips, tax returns, P60, bank statements. With some help from an advisor we wrote back stating that only bank statements available, no employmen...

Re: URGENT ADVICE PLEASE - Additional documents

Ha, my partner had a similar letter, asking for original documents to show how she supported herself. Between 2004 and 2010!! Bank statements, P60, payslips, tax returns. The bank account in question is now closed and she doesn't have any 'original' bank statements from that period. My guess is they...

absences under ILR

I have read the gov. information on absences whilst under ILR, but it is not specific enough. My wife's daughter wants to study in Portugal and we would like to accompany her. We would maintain a property in the UK and come back every so often for a few weeks or maybe months. When the gov. say two y...

Re: HO on planned changes to nationality casework process (!

My wife applied in August 2014 and so far we haven't had any further communications from HO. My wife overstayed before we married and declared all her immigration history in her first visa application. I wonder if they can still refuse her application for BC with this new directive, even though it c...

non-EEA mother with EEA child

I'd like to know how this one works? Sister of my wife is wanting to marry her BC boyfriend. She has a child from a previous relationship and that child has Italian nationality. The mother is Brazilian. Does she have to follow the usual entry visa routes laid out for non-EEA citizens or does the chi...

Re: Urgent - Naturalisation in process need to travel

My wife is in similar situation. She is waiting for her approval but is desperate to visit her family for Christmas. She really wants to stay there for a few months to sort out some family business. I read on the .GOV website that you can apply to have your ceremony at the Embassy or Consulate in th...

Re: UK Citizenship rights

I am BC by birth and my wife is Brazilian. We want to live in UK permanently, but with her daughter wishing to study in the EU for possibly three years, we took the decision to apply for citizenship, so that they could see a lot more of each other and we didn't have to worry about ILR restrictions. ...

UK Citizenship rights

I'd like to know if UK citizenship conveys further rights on the holder with respect to how much time can be spent outside the UK at any one time. My wife's daughter wants to study in the EU for three years and we want to live in that country for that period, allowing her to have a place to stay and...

answering Q2.1

Date of first arrival in UK, with a view to stay longterm. Having read the guides I am not 100% sure whether I need to expand on this question. My wife has been here legally since the 31/07/2011, she came in on the 2 year visa. She has her ILR and we are ready to send in the citizenship application i...

six weeks approx.

We sent in on 17th September, My wife did her Biometric a week or two later. 30th October, courier arrived with her ID card, documents arrived same day. Did everything myself. I organised all the documents into plastic folders, labelled each folder with the contents. Gave probably more than required...

Thanks batleykahn. FYI, the money came originally from a flat sale in 2003. This was invested and I have pretty much lived off the interest & capital since. I also came into my late mum's inheritance. All this is above board and I guess I could show evidence if needed. But my savings and liquid ...

sponsor requirements for spouse visa to UK

I'd like to hear from people who have had success in applying for a spouse visa where the sponsor income is below the 'minimum' but where the sponsor has sufficient savings and liquid assets to cover both himself & wife for a good period of time. I am self employed, but do not have much income f...
