The wording you have quoted simply means that if you want to qualify for ILR on the basis of T1G then you need to hold T1G when applying (it needs to have been the most recent and current visa). Also keep in mind, you don't need to provide any proof / explanation for absences if your total leave for the entire 5 year period is less than 180 days. So does this mean that more than 180 total days in 5 years is allowed but if you are out for more than 180 days u need to give an explanation for...
