Hello folks, I am a British citizen, and my husband is a Pakistani National. We have been married for four years, and live in the States. We have now decided to move to the UK. We were going to do this last year, which is when I started this thread. However we abandoned those plans as it was not sui...

Hello, I wonder if anybody can offer some advice. I am a british citizen living in the United States for the last 4 years with my husband. He is a Pakistani national with a valid work visa for USA. However, we are considering applying for his settlement visa. I understand the fact that the 27 month ...

Processing times

Hello please could somebody give me an idea of how long it may take to process a settlement visa for my friend's elderly parents. They are from (and in) Pakistan and the application was submitted about a week ago. I understand that it can be difficult to 'guess' timelines, but assuming that the appl...

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. I have forwarded it all to hubby in the States. :) :) Someone told me that he will need to get a TB certificate. Personally, I didn't think he needs to because he is resident in USA and that does not fall into one of the specified countries for a TB certif...

Applying online (in USA)

Hello, My husband and I have been married since December 2007. We lived together in the States (where he has a work visa) until August 2010. At that time I moved back to the UK as we decided to live here instead. I came back to arrange accommodation and maintenance etc. I am British and he is Pakist...

Probationary period (spouse visa)

Hello,

I am about to start the process of sponsoring my husband to join me in the UK. My question is how much time does the sponsored person need to spend here during the 2 year probationary period in order to get ILR.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks :D

Thank you ElenaW. I am actually already back here in the UK as we were not keen on the idea of both coming over and being out of employment. We felt it would be better for us if he stayed in the States and carried on with his job while I secured employment here. This way at least one of us would be ...

Hello All, After much thought we decided it would be best for me to come here first and look for a job, and for my husband to remain in the States and continue with his job, and then follow me (this way at least one of us would be in employment). I have now been offered a job on a 6 month basis with...
