Hi, I am in a similar situation to yours in that I am being offered a job in Southampton in Hampshire as well with roughly the same salary. The figure of 1600-1800 seems to be a bit over what my calculations are but then it depends. In my case it is just me and my wife so there are no childcare cost...

At my assessment center, the HR guys asked me for my educational docs and passport, with the visa stamped on it. I am told that there are some reference docs that I will have to get filled out and send back to the company but no idea what they are as I am supposed to get those with my employment con...

Hi vp77, I doubt there is a set format for the interview. Differs on a case by case basis. I think you should just make sure you know the job ad requirements thoroughly and how it relates to what you have put in your CV and cover letter. In case of certain blue chip companies, they might through in ...

Hi, I think if you sell yourself well and do some proper groundwork to find the opportunities that require your skillset, you should be able to make 30-40K easily, especially if you do contract work as opposed to a permanenet job but that has a downside as well in that you need to have your contract...

Hi, AS an accountant , you will find plenty of jobs in the UK however you will need a UK-based qualification to really get the kind of salary that you get in the US. Given your experience in Tax, i would recommend you look at AAT, a base level qualification aimed at book-keeping and production of en...

Date of hearing depends on the number of cases being heard but generally it should not be more than 3 or 4 months after the date mentioned in your letter.

Hi tulipz. Have you looked at the various franchise opportunities available for contracting asan accountant. Moreover, the type of work you can do depends on your experience level and qualification type, e.g. if you have an AAT certifiction, I doubt you can do much byond income tax and book-keeping....

Hi Folks, I finally got my passport. Apparently there was some mix-up at the VAC as my stamped passport was laying with these guys since 23rd July but I got intimated yesterday. Got there and collected the passport with the Visa. It has taken nearly 2 years and 2000 GBP in assorted fees to get this ...

Hi, I doubt you would be able to make much headway in the financial services sector with just CFA level 1 for a number of reasons: 1- Level-1 just ensures that you have a base level of capability and lots of people have that. To really leverage CFA, you have to pass all 3 parts. 2- Having experience...

Bro, Firstly, I strongly suggest that you bring this issue to the attention of the BHC. They aren't supposed to take a single penny from you. If someone has, I suggest you contact the BHC right away so the crooks in question caught. I have heard that the BHC has started taking this thing extremely s...

Hi Bro, For appeals, you can't track your passport through the website as they don't assign you an application number like they do to the regular applications. You have to call them up to check. Secondly, you don't have to pay anything at all when you submit your passport as a result of an appeal so...

Hi Bro,

4 weeks and my passport is still with the BHC. Just checked this morning. I am giving it 2 more weeks before i start raising hell with all and sundry. I had hoped it would be done by now as there wasn't that big a crowd at the VAC when I submitted my docs.

That is a bummer as i copied the phone number from the UK Visas website.

Ask your sis to call from a local number or from her mobile. That should be successful.

Furthermore, try again from the UK number after some time as the number may be down temporarily.

Hi, I don't think the call center operators get your number as the calls get routed to them through the call center exchange so they can't really figure out if your are calling from the UK or not. In any case, they have a standardized set of questions they ask. Just remember to have the following in...
